Casual Friday: Wash, Wear, Repeat!

TGIF all!

I’m inspired today by fashion blogger Vic Styles’ post “What is the Price of Style?”.  The post was  real about fashion blogging and the impact of social media. I follow popular fashion bloggers on social media and “ooh and ahh” over their posts too.  But I also recognize while I’m inspired by these bloggers, I don’t compare myself to them. I’m comfortable with who I am and where I’m at in my life.  I dont have to  pretend like I got it like that to go out and buy every “must have”  item.  I work full-time and have bills just like everyone else. There is no way I’m gonna trump paying my mortgage for the latest “it” shoe or bag (you can’t look cute while homeless!). There are a lot of  fashion bloggers who are wonderful fashionistas on a budget and look freaking amazing (check out  my faves My Thrifted Closet and In My Joi)  These ladies (including myself) happily recycle our wardrobes.   This doesn’t make us any less stylish or trendy because of this.  If anything it shows how creative we  can be by taking something old and reworking it in a fresh way.  Now don’t get me wrong, I would love to have the seemingly never ending wardrobes of some of my favorite style bloggers but I won’t drive myself into the poor house trying to keep up with them and neither should you. So go ahead and express your unique individual style but don’t forget to  wash, wear and repeat!

Have a wonderful day and a great Memorial Day weekend!

Casual Friday: An Oldie But A Goodie

TGIF all!

Now that I’m committed to shopping my closet, I find it easier to stave off urges to purchase new clothes.  By concentrating on what I already have, I’m finding a lot of clothing I’ve rarely worn.  These printed pants from Eloquii are a prime example of this. When I saw these pants two years ago I HAD to have them.  While I absolutely love these pants, I never really got around to wearing them because I continued to buy more stuff (I know, bad Georgette!). It’s a shame because these pants look great on me!   Shopping my closet is  teaching me to be  content with what I have and being okay with not having all the latest trends in my wardrobe. Now when I get ready in the morning, I say “I DO have something to wear!”

All this remixing has got me thinking about a challenge.  Maybe a 7×7 to start off? Hmmm…what do you think? Would you be interested in joining me?

Have a wonderful weekend!

30+ Style Collaboration: The Tutu

Happy  Hump Day all!

When I found out that the tutu was going to be the next 30+  Style Collaboration, I was like “no way Jose!”.  I’ve seen multiple bloggers looking wonderful rocking a tutu but I couldn’t see myself doing it.  I’ve accepted there are some trends that are just not for me (me and harem pants will NEVER mix!) and I had put  tutus in that category….until now.  As we all know, sometimes rising to a challenge helps us to grow as a person. Participating in this collaboration  helps me shatter the myth that women over 40 don’t have fun with fashion…yes we do! We like to be on trend just like everyone else!  Dont let that  “dressing your age”  crap stifle you and stop you from looking your absolute best.  Remember….STYLE HAS NO AGE OR SIZE!

Check out how the other bloggers in the 30+ Collaboration styled their tutus!

Spring Trends to Wear Now…Pastels

Happy Monday all!

How was everyone’s weekend? Great I hope! As you can see, I got a new haircut and color! I made the decision to retire my mohawk on Friday and luckily my hairdresser had an opening on Saturday afternoon.   I absolutely LOVE my new color and I can’t stop smiling about it!

In my post “3 Trends To Try This Spring”, I talked about how pastels are going to be HOT for the season.  With Spring a little over a week away, you can make them apart of your wardrobe now. Try picking a pastel  (pink, yellow and blue are my favorites) that looks good on you.  Once you find colors that work, pair them with neutrals to ease into the trend.  Also wearing colors that historically work well with each other (ex. blue and yellow) is another simple way to wear the trend. I’ve always loved the combo of pink and green together, so I incorporated them into my work outfit today.

Will you be giving pastels a try this Spring?

Have a wonderful day!
