An Oldie but a Goodie!

Happy Hump Day all!

When I bought this Simply Be trench coat back in the Summer, I couldn’t wait to wear it.   The faux leather on the sleeves instantly  updates the classic trench giving it some edge.  Its  a great way to  incorporate the current leather trend  and still be appropriate to wear to work.   The coat is true to size  and  isn’t snug or tight.   There is enough room  to wear layers or a chunky sweater underneath.  I was looking  to update my trench coat  this season and this fit the bill perfectly!

Are you looking to update your trench coat?

Have a wonderful evening!

P.S. Sorry for the blurry pics. My lens was smudged but its all fixed now. Yay!

Summer Rewind

Happy Monday all!

Now that Fall is finally here , I wanted to take a look back at  my favorite Summer outfits.   These outfits were special to me because I have never been this colorful and happy wearing Summer clothes!   I used to dread Summer dressing but now  I look forward to next  year and more fashion fun!

What was your favorite outfit you wore this Summer?

Have a wonderful day!

Old is New Again

Happy Wednesday all!

The thing I love about fashion is that old always becomes new again. I bet if you look in your closet, you probably have clothes you bought years ago that are now trendy.  The lace pencil skirt I’m wearing today is a prime example of this.   I bought this skirt back in 2002  when I needed a dressy outfit for the Captain’s Ball on a Caribbean cruise.   Over the years I was tempted to give the skirt away, but something always  stopped me.   Last week I was flipping through my People Style Watch magazine and I came upon an article announcing that lace was “in”.  BINGO!  I instantly  thought of this skirt and decided to wear it to work.  Looking at the skirt you would never know it is 10 years old!  So go, shop your closet and see what you have there.  You might be surprised at what  you might  find!

And for those readers in the Tri State area , don’t forget  Skinny Minority & Macy’s  (1300 Market Street) Fashion Night Out event in Center City.  The event will  start at 6:30pm  in the  Women’s Department on the 2nd Floor.  There will be giveaways, delicious eats and fun all around, so please come out and support!  Plus I’ll be walking the runway! Woo hoo!!!

Have a wonderful evening!!!

Casual Friday/Reclaiming the Booty

TGIF everyone!

I’ve been DYING for a pair of magenta colored pants for a while now, so when I saw these pants on Eloquii’s website I jumped all over them. When I put  them on, I was surprised by the snug fit around my hips and butt. As far as I could remember, I’ve always had a love/dislike (I refuse to say “hate”) relationship with my booty.   I grew up knowing I had a large posterior but  others began to notice the same once I hit middle school.    From the 6th to 8th grades I was  called “Getta the Butt” (the boy who started this proudly told me he didn’t want call me Jabba the Hut so he came up with Getta the Butt!).  Things hit a fever pitch in 10th grade  when the EU song “Da Butt” came out.  Almost on a daily basis  I was greeted by male classmates singing “Getta got a big ol’ butt…OH YEAH!”  During those years I would pray to God to deflate the size of my derrière so the teasing (and unwanted stares) would stop.  Unfortunately my prayers went unanswered and I started wearing  oversized clothes to deflect attention away from my butt.

Fast forward to 40-year-old me being flooded by unpleasant memories while trying on these pants. For a millisecond I thought about returning them but I stopped. Returning the pants will not make my booty any smaller than it is. By returning them, I would be allowing negative self-doubt to rule me again.  So  I decided to keep the pants and show off   my glorious booty!

Have a wonderful weekend!
