Casual Friday/Breaking the Rules

TGIF!!! Woo hoo!

So since I’ve been breaking my fashion rules this week, I figured why not go all the way?! Stripes were one of my fashion “no no’s” because they supposedly made you look wider. So again being a good follower, I avoided stripes until this dress. I love this dress because it’s comfortable and figure flattering. The gentle ruching and tie on the side help smooth out my tummy area. The black and white stripes are classic and great for a first time wearer of a striped dress. I added my new Nine West red mini platform heels for a pop of color.

Are stripes in your future? Have a great day!

Pastel Power

Happy Hump Day everyone! Hope your week is going well so far!

In the past I wasn’t a fan of pastel colors mainly because of the “rule” that plus size women shouldn’t wear light colors. So being a good follower, I avoided pastels like the plague until now. A few weeks ago I was on Talbots website and they were having a 90% off (yes 90% off!) sale. The crop pants that were originally priced $79.50 were on sale for $7.50! I was like “oh yeah I’m getting these” but they only had my size in the light green color. For a second I hesitated but decided to get them anyway. Buying these pants was another step in breaking fashion rules that I’ve allowed to control my clothing choices. The pants are more of a spearmint green color which looks great with my yellow flutter sleeve blouse. The blouse is big on me so I belted it at the waist to give it shape. I added my chunky green necklace and sliver flats to round out the outfit.

Will you give pastel colors a chance this Spring? Have a great evening!

Pretty Peplum

Happy Monday everyone!

I’m loving peplum this Spring! It’s an all-inclusive trend that flatters all body types. It’s also great to wear to work.

What Spring trends are you incorporating into your work wardrobe? Have a great evening!

Casual Friday/Loving the Blues

TGIF everyone! I hope everyone has great plans for the weekend!

Although I still go to court on Friday, I can be a little free with my outfit choices. I got this blue printed maxi skirt from Old Navy a couple of weeks ago and I thought it would be perfect for casual Friday. I think it’s such a fun skirt that can be dressed up or down. I plan to get ALOT use out of it this summer. To keep the skirt work appropriate, I dressed it up with my white cowl neck shirt and denim blazer. I added my navy beaded necklace for a little pizzazz and my red wedges to break up the blue tones.

What is your favorite Friday outfit? Have a great weekend!!!

Neon Pop

Happy Hump Day everybody!!

My outfit today is an attempt to incorporate more color prints into my Spring wardrobe. I have prints but they are mostly gray, black & white. After going through my dresser, I found my green floral print blouse that I had tucked away. I bought this blouse from Target almost 7 years ago! I decided to wear it with my green pencil skirt and neon green cardigan. I love to color block so adding the cardigan gave me the chance to try a different color combination (green & neon). I didn’t want the cardigan to hang open so I used my white belt to bring the look together. I added my new chunky silver necklace to finish off the outfit.

What new things are you adding to your Spring wardrobe?

P.S. Sorry for my shirt in the pictures. I thought it was straight! LOL
