Colorful Prints at Lord & Taylor

Happy Monday everyone! I hope you had a great weekend!

As plus size ladies, it can be difficult to find a dress that doesn’t have big flowers or weird prints all over them. So when I saw this dress at Lord & Taylor, I was like “Yes!!! A printed dress that’s bright and trendy!!!”. The dress is from Kate Hill (which I think is exclusive to Lord & Taylor). The material is lightweight and perfect for the summer. There is a good amount of stretch to the dress so it’s not constricting. You can accessorize it in so many ways due to the different colors. I decided to keep my accessories at a minimum because I wanted the dress to be the star of the show.

Lord & Taylor (in my opinion of course!) has stepped up their plus size offerings, especially online. They now carry Jessica Simpson, Nine West, Michael Kors and Calvin Klein. They offer great pieces to add to your work/professional wardrobe. Lord & Taylor is always having a sale and is generous with their coupons so you can combine the discount with the sale price. Some of the clothing is pricey but the quality and longevity of the items can’t be beat. So check Lord & Taylor out!

Have a great evening!

Casual Friday/More Tuxedo Love!

TGIF everybody!!!

My outfit today combines two of my favorite clothing items…my white tuxedo jacket and red skinny jeans. Casual Friday at the office is the perfect opportunity to finally wear them together. I didn’t want to wear a solid color underneath the jacket so I wore my black and white striped tank from the Gap Outlet (which I got for 70% off!). You can never go wrong wearing these colors together!

Great news! I will be sponsoring my first giveaway so stay tuned for details! Have a wonderful weekend.

Jeans: Evans

Jacket: Simply Be

Tank: Gap Outlet

Necklace: Macys

Flats: Calvin Klein

Thrift Diva

Happy Hump Day all!

My co-worker Kiana is one of the sweetest people I know. On top of being a wonderful person, Kiana is a curvy girl with a great sense of style. One day I asked her where she shopped and she told me that nearly all of her clothes were thrifted. I’ve been curious about thrifting but honestly didn’t know where to go. So I figured Kiann would be the best person to give me some thrift lessons!

How did you discover thrift stores and how long have you been thrifting?

I’ve been going to thrift stores ever since I was a little girl. My mother LOVES thrift stores and she would always drag me and my sisters along to different thrift stores when we were little. So I got my love of thrifting from my mom.

What is the best deal you’ve ever scored while thrifting?

I recently bought a black Banana Republic wrap dress for about $5. I love the way it looks on me and was so happy when I found it… and for $5!!!! You cannot beat that!

What are your favorite thrift stores?

I’ve been to numerous thrift stores but my favorite has got to be Village Thrift. The one I go to is located in New Jersey but they also have a shop in Philadelphia. I shop there about twice a month. It’s a huge thrift store and has everything! I love that place!

Is your outfit today thrifted? If so, tell me about it.

Yes, my entire outfit is thrifted! I fell in love with this red Ann Taylor Loft polka dot blouse, and although red is not my favorite color, I decided to try it out. The blouse, believe it or not, was brand new with the tags still attached and I purchased it for $8. I paired it with a black pencil skirt ($5), and a pair of Guess sling back pumps ($9). The beaded necklace is also thrifted… So in total, my outfit cost me a little over $20. Not bad right???

What advice would you give to first time thrift store shoppers like me?

I would advise first time thrift store shoppers to go with an open mind because you never know what you’re going to find. And go with some time on your hands and a lot of patience. Thrift stores can be a little overwhelming because they have so many things. But it’s a good place to go to on a day you have nothing to do and don’t have a lot of cash to spend. For me, it’s guilt free retail therapy!

Kiana shows us that you don’t have to spend a million bucks to look like a million bucks! Thanks Kiana for sharing!

Do you thrift? If so, what is the best bargain you’ve scored?! Have a wonderful evening!

Fun In The Sun

Happy Tuesday! I hope everyone had a fun holiday weekend!

On Memorial Day, my nephew Frederick and I headed to Atlantic City for the Beyonce concert (he had tickets). After we checked in, we decided to hang out on the beach. I usually avoid bathing suit pictures but after seeing other plus size bloggers embrace their wonderful bodies in “fatkinis”, I decided to show my suited body. This is my FIRST time wearing a tankini. While I’m nervous about putting myself out there, I feel I need to do this. This is huge for me because for the first time in my life I accept my body.

Have a wonderful day!!!!
