Feeling Springy!

TGIF all! Hope everyone has great plans for the weekend!

When I left the house this morning it was cold again…ARGH!!! Winter had returned overnight with a vengeance. Although the weather bummed me out, I know Spring is right around the corner. I can tolerate a few cold days until the sun finally sheds its warm rays on me. This outfit is what I would wear on a perfect Spring day.

What would you wear on a perfect Spring day? Have a great weekend all!!

Feeling Springy!

Have You Ever….

Happy Hump Day all!!! Hope your week so far has been treating you well. Mine has. I had an impromptu girls get together last night and had a ball! Thanks Shoshanna & Shondrika for such a great time.

Have you ever fallen in love with a piece of clothing? Loved it so much that once you put it on, you did the “happy dance”? This is how I feel about the Dorothy Perkins dress I’m wearing today. Last Monday I talked about my first purchase from Dorothy Perkins. This was one of the items I got. I had been searching for the perfect peplum dress without success. I was going to give up on my peplum dreams until I saw this on their website. It was love at first sight! And it came in a polka dot print! Swoon!

I quickly placed my order and waited anxiously for my dress to arrive. When I finally got it, I ran up to my room to put it on. I did the “happy dance” because it fit and flattered my shape. The ponte knit has a nice stretch that doesn’t constrain me. A few months ago I wouldn’t have dreamed of wearing such a dress. I would’ve talked myself out of it because of the fit. This dress makes me feel beautiful and proud to have curves.

Say Yes!

Happy Monday all! I hope everyone had a great weekend. My weekend was wonderful! I got to meet the cutest little girl in the world (Emma!!!) and hung out with new friends. Plus my godson turned yrs old yesterday (Happy Birthday Alex!!!).

For this month’s “Say Yes!” feature, three of my co-workers decided to step out of their comfort zones and try something different with their wardrobe. I want to thank these ladies for allowing themselves to “Say Yes!” and embrace something new!

Nicole: I stepped out of my comfort zone with a belt to cinch my waist. I wanted to bring something different to my outfit.

Sherena:I’ve had this jacket for so long and didn’t think to wear it with this blouse. I like the combination and would do it again!

Tamera:I’ve always been the black, white, brown clothes type of girl but I decided to Say Yes! to color with this green French sleeve button up, blue sweater and silver flats.

What styles or trends you normally wouldn’t wear are you now saying yes to? I would love to know! If you would like to be featured in “Say Yes!”, please send a picture of yourself to grownandcurvywoman@gmail.com . Please include a few words on your outfit and why you said yes to it.

Casual Friday/Black & Blue

TGIF everyone!!! The weekend is finally here! Was it just me or did the week seem to drag? I’m looking forward to relaxing and getting some household stuff done this weekend.

Since I work in a courthouse casual Fridays are always somewhat of a challenge for me. I try to balance out my want/desire to wear jeans on Friday without being disrespectful to the court (although I’ve seen plenty of outfits worn by clients that are EXTREMELY disrespectful to the court and themselves!!!). I usually pull out my pair of trusty dark trouser jeans but this Friday I decided to do something different. I’ve been wanting to wear my ASOS Curve cobalt blue skinny jeans since I bought them in late January. I paired them with my printed Jones NY sleeveless blouse and black Torrid blazer to tone the jeans down. Since I’m seated during most of my time in the court, my judge rarely sees me from the waist down, so I felt comfortable wearing them. The jeans are a great shade of blue and are form-fitting but not tight. They are surprisingly long on me therefore bunching up around my ankle. I tried to fix this by wearing my heeled booties but don’t think I was successful. The added length straightened the leg out a little bit. I added my Macy’s necklace (which Im obsessed with & have worn multiple times this week!), earrings and NY & Co bracelets to round out the look.

What do you wear for Casual Friday? Have a great weekend!

Blazerr: Torrid

Blouse: Jones NY

Jeans: ASOS Curve

Bracelet: NY & Co.

Necklace & Earrings: Macy’s

Shoes: Bandolino booties

Gotta Have it for Spring Pt. 1

Happy Hump Day all! I can’t believe the week is half over!

Spring is literally around the corner and I can’t wait!!! What I look forward to the most is that perfect 70 degree day when I can chuck my winter coat and be in the sun. Below are some of the things I must have for Spring. Anything with color is pretty much on my list.

What do you “gotta have” for Spring? Have a great day!!!
