Weekend Edition: Full Figure Fashion Week Pt. 1

Happy Monday all!

First I want to apologize for my lack of posting last week.  I was in  NYC for  Full Figure Fashion Week and the Blogging While Brown conference, so needless to say I was pooped!  Last Wednesday, I was invited to the Lane Bryant Blogger Conference with several other awesome bloggers.  At the breakfast I finally got to meet Dani from DIYFATSION   (who is such a sweetie in person!), Meaghan from Little Lime Dress , Bella from Bella Styles and CeCe from the Big Girl Blog (you must check out her amazing blog!).  I also got to reconnect with the lovely Parker from Everyday Runway 365, the sweet Rebecca from The Plus Side of Me and bubbly Oliva from Wait Until the Sunset (who is THE life of the party lemme tell ya!). .

In the afternoon, Lane Bryant treated us to a delicious  lunch to discuss their plans for  their A/W collection.  They explained that they are  committed to  providing fashionable and trendy clothing to plus size women.  During the Q&A poriton of the presentation Lane Bryant was open to all the comments/suggestions  bloggers had about their line.  They gave us a sneak peek of their upcoming A/W 13 collection and I can say I’m truly excited about the direction they are taking.

I had a completely different outfit planned for the blogger conference but at the last minute  dress I wanted  to wear  didn’t fit (that’s what I get for not trying it on at the store!).  Luckily I packed  my Lane Bryant skinny jeans  so they saved the day!

Stay tuned for  more FFFWeek recaps this week!

How was your week/weekend?

Have a great day!

Ode to Denim

Happy Hump Day all!

Who doesn’t love denim?  It’s  so versatile that you can wear it with everything and almost anywhere.  Before I started blogging, I owned  two pairs of jeans, one black and one blue.    Blogging has exposed me to  different kinds of denim and helped me to move outside my comfort zone.     I bought my first pair of colored skinny jeans last year and never looked back.    Now I have several pair including bright yellow!  I no longer hesitate to  pair denim with pleated skirts, leather jackets and graphic prints.      I hope to find a really nice denim dress to add to my collection soon.  Any suggestions?

How do you like to wear denim?

Have a wonderful day!

Weekend Edition: Wash Out

Happy Monday all!

I had a lot of  plans for this past weekend but the rain squashed  many of them.  Fortunately I was able to attend the Rittenhouse Spring Festival on Saturday  before the rain began with the ladies of Mahogany Philly (a MeetUp social group I joined a few months ago).  I kept things simple with skinny jeans and flat sandals since we were going to be doing a lot of walking around.  While my weekend was a wash out I still had a good time at the festival.  I checked the forecast for Memorial Day weekend and so far  no rain is predicted!  Woo hoo!!!

How was your weekend?

Have a wonderful day!

P.S. Dont forget to vote for me in Lane Bryant’s Fashion Style Off !

Casual Friday/Easy DIY

TGIF everyone!

I absolutely love this maxi dress as a skirt.   Since I first wore  this dress as a skirt a year ago (here)  it has become one of my favorite Summer pieces. I will probably never wear the dress because the top doesn’t  cover the girls  but that’s okay because I’m definitely getting my moneys worth!    I’ve rescued a  few of my ill-fitting  dresses from the donate pile  and made them into skirts ( here and here).  All you have to do is fold the top part of your dress and tuck it into the bottom half  to create your skirt. Add a belt to secure your skirt so it wont slide down and to cover where you tucked the top portion in.  This easy DIY is a  great way  to recycle old dresses and to get more wear out of your clothes!

Have a great weekend and HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!
