Oh Sophie!

Happy Thursday all!

As you ladies know I love dresses so when IGGI debuted their Cinema Retro collection I was very excited.  While viewing the collection, the Sophie Colorblock Dress in black instantly caught my eye.  The mix of black, tan and orange was a smart way to remain stylish yet professional at work.   The dress has a retro/mod feel to it.  The material is very stretchy and hugs your body in a flattering way.   While the dress is very light it maintains it’s shape and doesn’t sag .   The cinch in front of the dress highlighted my waist and tastefully showed off my curves.  I  had only one tiny issue with  static cling but as the day went on it was less of a problem.

Vegas!

Happy Hump Day all!

Over the weekend I headed to Las Vegas with my buddy Tamera and her grandmother for a mini vacay. This was Tamera’s first time in Vegas and she had a blast! I played blackjack for the first time, won some money, ate great food and hung out all night (trust me I’m feeling it today! LOL). While this was my fourth time in Vegas its always a new experience with different people. Tamera and her grandmother (Granny as we call her) were the best travel companions anyone could ask for!

Here are a few pictures from my Vegas vacation!

Have a wonderful day!

Baby Its COLD Outside!

Happy Hump Day all!

To say it’s cold outside would be an understatement .  It’s too cold to walk, talk, breathe…well you get the point.   When it’s like this, all I want to do is bundle up and stay home but until I hit the Powerball lottery I have to go to work.  So today’s post  is about  the 3 essentials I need to keep warm during these frigid days.

1. My puffer coat: I used to be in fear of looking like the Abominable Snowman in a puffer coat but after freezing last year, I decided to let that go and get one. After looking high and low for a good coat, I found this London Fog  number on Macys website.   What drew me to the coat was all the rave reviews it received.  Not one person who bought it rated it under four stars.  The coat isn’t bulky and is actually pretty light.    The down fill has kept me warm and comfortable  outside.  Even when the wind is blowing I don’t feel the cold air.  The coat is also water resistant so no more shoveling snow in a soggy coat.  It  also comes with a detachable faux fur lined hood.

2. My UGG Boots:  I resisted getting a pair of UGG boots because everyone and their mom has a pair.   My feet are the first thing  that gets cold so I had to find a comfortable boot that keep them  warm.  Once I found a pair I liked (on sale no less!) I haven’t regretted my decision.  I no longer worry about my feet becoming frozen blocks of ice when I walk to  work from the train station.

3. My comfy scarf: I never leave my house without my comfy scarf.  It may not look like much, but it does keep my face warm.

Well there you have it! What are you winter essentials?

Have a wonderful evening!

P.S. Sorry about no pics of the UGG boots. The pics came out too blurry. Sorry!

Casual Friday/Latest Inspiration

TGIF everybody!

I’m always inspired by the fabulous plus size bloggers I follow.  Their blogs encourage me to pair items I would never thought to wear together.  My outfit today  is   inspired  by Tanesha of  Girl With Curves  post Layer Trick  .  After I saw her post,  I had to try layering a blouse underneath my sleeveless peplum shirt!  To achieve this look, I put  my  faux leather peplum shirt and  my 3/4 sleeve polka dot blouse together.   The blouse was thin enough to fit comfortably underneath the  shirt without adding bulk.  I didn’t want to wear all black so I opted for my fuchsia slim ankle pants for a pop of color (it wasn’t that cold today so my ankles didn’t freeze!).   I really liked how the blouse and peplum shirt looked together.  I will definitely wear this combo again.  Thanks Tanesha for the inspiration!

What clothes have you been inspired to wear?

Casual Friday/Leftover Sparkle Pt. 1

TGIF everyone!

Now that the holidays are over, I’m faced with the dilemma of what  to do with my sequin clothes.   I don’t want to pack my sparkly stuff away just yet so I decided to incorporate them into my everyday wardrobe.  I picked the pencil skirt because it was the  easiest to wear.   To get past the  sequins, I treated  it  like a regular  black skirt.  I wore my denim shirt and v-neck  sweater to make the skirt more casual  (you know I had to have a pop of color!).  I kept my accessories simple with a  chain link necklace and sliver studs in my ears.  I completed my look by wearing opaque tights and pointy toe flats.  Overall I think I did a pretty good job on my first try.  I’m sure there are some things that I could have done differently but in all I’ll give myself a B+ for this assignment!

What would you wear with a sequin skirt?
