Style Inspiration: In My Joi/Foxcroft Review

TGIF all!

A few weeks ago Foxcroft contacted to me to review some shirts from their plus collection. I picked a tartan plaid & green polka dot shirt to review. The shirts are described as “wrinkle free” which intrigued me. I’m not a fan of  ironing so anything claiming to be “wrinkle free” is a huge plus in my book.  When I got the shirts I was happy to see that they looked exactly like their pictures online. I immediately  started to think about what to wear with them.  No sooner than I thought that, I came across this post from  In My Joi (one of my favorite bloggers!) where she sported this fab outfit:

I instantly fell in love with her look and decided to put my own spin on her outfit by wearing the plaid shirt with my red pants suit today. The shirt, so far it has remained  somewhat “wrinkle free” as I write this.  I say “somewhat” because there is some creasing where I fold my arms and where I tucked my shirt into my pants. Honestly I don’t think creasing around the elbow and waist areas can be adverted. When I wear the shirt again, I will  run a warm iron over the creased parts  to smooth them out but that’s about it. Another plus for me was when I buttoned up the shirt it didn’t pull or gape open around my bust. This is a huge deal for me because I tend to shy away from button up shirts because of this issue. It feels good to know I finally have some shirts that fit properly in that area.  The sleeves weren’t tight around my thick arms and I was able to move freely without feeling constricted.   Foxcroft shirts are not inexpensive (they range between $88-92) BUT if you want quality you sometimes gotta spend a little dough.  If you think about it,  spending $20 each time to replace a poor quality shirt will add up over time. For me, I rather pay money for one quality shirt that I wont have to keep replacing over and over again. Bottom line, Foxcroft makes quality shirts and I would recommend you give them a try!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Best of 2013: Pt. 2

Happy Monday all!

This is part two of my favorite looks from this year.  As the year comes to a close, my resolution for the new year is pretty simple…to be kinder to myself and continue to grow as a person.  While I’ve had some personal struggles this year, 2013 was great overall.  I was fortunate to have several opportunities come my way and I would be remiss not to acknowledge them.

I also want to thank everyone for supporting, commenting and following my blog. Words cannot describe how much your constant support means to me! THANK YOU!!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Christmas Dinner at ……

Happy Monday all!

With Christmas only two days away, what to wear is somewhat on our minds (wrapping all those gifts is probably first!).  If you’re stuck on what to wear, here are a few looks and some suggestions to hopefully help you out!

HAVE A MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Home

Home is definitely where the heart is so being casual  is on the top of the list. If I were entertaining at home I would wear a comfortable pair of slacks instead of jeans.  Slacks are a great way to dress up a casual outfit without all the fuss.

 A Family Member’s Home

Whenever I’m invited to a relative’s home for the holidays, I always feel like I have to dress up.  Since I’m going to my cousin’s house for Christmas dinner, this is what I’ll be wearing.  If you’re like me, add a pop of color to make your dressy outfit fun and festive!

A Restaurant With Your Sweetie or Friends

I have a few friends who bunk tradition and go out to dinner on Christmas.  A LBD (little black dress) is a great option for your holiday dinner because its chic and timeless.  Instead of reaching for a blazer, opt for a  leather jacket to give your look some edge.

Casual Friday: A is for Awesome!

TGIF all!

Sometimes when I get down, I tend to forget about the awesome things going on in my life. It’s easy to focus on the negative and not the positive, especially when you feel less than stellar.  Lately I’ve been learning how to be appreciative of my awesome life. Yeah there are things that I wish were different but that shouldn’t negate how blessed I am. I’m awesome because I’m funny, sensitive, loving, loyal and have a big heart. I have an awesome smile that instantly brightens my face.  I have an awesome support system that not everyone is lucky to have.  I have an awesome sense of style that celebrates my body and flaunts my curves.  Basically what I’m saying is embrace all the things that make you awesome.  Let your light shine even when things don’t go as planned.  Know that you are unique and special which makes you AWESOME!

What are some of the things that makes you awesome?

Have a fabulous weekend!

Casual Friday: Dressed Up Denim

TGIF all!

I’m giving my pencil skirts a break and trying out new silhouettes to keep things fresh.  Sometimes I get stuck and need to branch out so I decided to dress up my full denim skirt today.  I kept things simple with my denim on denim ensemble and added some leopard print for a nice contrast.  This outfit shows you can wear denim to work and still look appropriate for the office.

Are you a fan of denim on denim?

Have a wonderful weekend!
