Winter White

Happy Hump Day all!

I’ve always liked winter white on other people but never considered wearing it for myself.  After seeing the lovely LuAnne from Weesha’s World rock this skirt, I decided to take the plunge and get it in cream. The skirt is from ASOS main range (aka “straight size”) but the size 14 band has so much stretch it comfortably fits my size 18 waist.  Initially I was skeptical wearing a full skirt but all of those concerns went out of the window when I put it on.  Sometimes you just gotta put yourself out there and see if something will work.  I’m glad I decided to go outside my comfort zone and get the skirt.

Would you wear winter white?

P.S. I just found out the skirt now comes in FIVE colors, so if cream isn’t for you I’m sure there are other colors that you’ll like!

Have a wonderful day!

TGIF all!

I gotta be honest, I’m not feeling my outfit today. Being casual is always a struggle for me because I’m so used to dressing up everyday. Does this sound silly? I’ve seen other women (such as my new blogger crush Curves and Curls) with amazing casual style but I just cant do it! Gimme a pencil skirt and some kitten heels and I’m good to go. Give me a pair of jeans and shirt and I’m at a loss. Go figure!

Nevertheless, I’m committed to improving my casual style. If any of you have any tips please feel free to share!

Have a great weekend!

She’s Gotta Have It

Happy Hump Day all!

So it’s day 20 of my 30 Day No Shopping Challenge and not shopping is still a struggle but I’m finding it easier to resist my impulses. Since I haven’t been shopping, I’ve discovered clothing that at one time I HAD to have. This holds true for this Michael Kors leopard print skirt I’m wearing today.  Last Fall I HAD to have it so I bought it and wore it a handful of times.  Unfortunately the cycle of buying clothes I had to have and then “falling out of love” with them was becoming too common, leaving me with a pile of rarely worn clothing.  To be honest, it kinda makes me ashamed of how greedy I had become with clothing.  I honestly thought I was adding to my wardrobe but in actuality, I was just collecting more and more stuff.  This challenge is teaching me to appreciate what I have and not to covet stuff so much.  Now don’t get me wrong, I still LOVE clothes but instead of running out to buy new stuff, I’m learning to work with what I got.

If you are participating in the 30 Day No Shopping Challenge, how is it going for you so far?

Have a wonderful day!

Fall Break Pt. 2

Happy Saturday all!

I would be remiss if I didn’t include my outfits I wore on my vacay.  Since I’m committed to my 30 Day No Shopping Challenge, I didn’t buy anything for the trip.  This was the first time I had to shop my closet for a vacation and not rely on buying new clothes. It felt good to pick out items I haven’t worn in months.  Also this was the first time I didn’t over pack.  I simply took what I needed which surprisingly fit into one small suitcase!

Have a great weekend!

Putting It All Together

Happy Hump Day!

Shopping my closet this week has been very interesting.  While going through my closet, I had to acknowledge my cycle of shopping.  I found when I would get frustrated while figuring out what to wear, I would just give up and buy a new outfit.  Sounds crazy right? I  would justify needing new clothes by saying “I don’t have anything to wear!”   I’m ashamed to say there are clothes in my closet that I’ve only worn maybe twice and haven’t wore them again.  This leopard print shirt and mustard yellow pencil skirt I’m wearing today is prime example of this.  I can count on one hand how many times I’ve worn them, which is a shame.  There are so many ways I can style these pieces and I plan on finally giving them their due!

What gems do you have in your closet that you aren’t wearing?

Have a wonderful day!
