Best of 2013: Pt. 2

Happy Monday all!

This is part two of my favorite looks from this year.  As the year comes to a close, my resolution for the new year is pretty simple…to be kinder to myself and continue to grow as a person.  While I’ve had some personal struggles this year, 2013 was great overall.  I was fortunate to have several opportunities come my way and I would be remiss not to acknowledge them.

I also want to thank everyone for supporting, commenting and following my blog. Words cannot describe how much your constant support means to me! THANK YOU!!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Christmas Dinner at ……

Happy Monday all!

With Christmas only two days away, what to wear is somewhat on our minds (wrapping all those gifts is probably first!).  If you’re stuck on what to wear, here are a few looks and some suggestions to hopefully help you out!

HAVE A MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Home

Home is definitely where the heart is so being casual  is on the top of the list. If I were entertaining at home I would wear a comfortable pair of slacks instead of jeans.  Slacks are a great way to dress up a casual outfit without all the fuss.

 A Family Member’s Home

Whenever I’m invited to a relative’s home for the holidays, I always feel like I have to dress up.  Since I’m going to my cousin’s house for Christmas dinner, this is what I’ll be wearing.  If you’re like me, add a pop of color to make your dressy outfit fun and festive!

A Restaurant With Your Sweetie or Friends

I have a few friends who bunk tradition and go out to dinner on Christmas.  A LBD (little black dress) is a great option for your holiday dinner because its chic and timeless.  Instead of reaching for a blazer, opt for a  leather jacket to give your look some edge.

Casual Friday: Dressed Up Denim

TGIF all!

I’m giving my pencil skirts a break and trying out new silhouettes to keep things fresh.  Sometimes I get stuck and need to branch out so I decided to dress up my full denim skirt today.  I kept things simple with my denim on denim ensemble and added some leopard print for a nice contrast.  This outfit shows you can wear denim to work and still look appropriate for the office.

Are you a fan of denim on denim?

Have a wonderful weekend!

Casual Friday: Work In Progress

TGIF all!

I gotta be honest, I’m not feeling my outfit today. Being casual is always a struggle for me because I’m so used to dressing up everyday. Does this sound silly? I’ve seen other women (such as my new blogger crush Curves and Curls) with amazing casual style but I just cant do it! Gimme a pencil skirt and some kitten heels and I’m good to go. Give me a pair of jeans and shirt and I’m at a loss. Go figure!

Nevertheless, I’m committed to improving my casual style. If any of you have any tips please feel free to share!

Have a great weekend!

She’s Gotta Have It

Happy Hump Day all!

So it’s day 20 of my 30 Day No Shopping Challenge and not shopping is still a struggle but I’m finding it easier to resist my impulses. Since I haven’t been shopping, I’ve discovered clothing that at one time I HAD to have. This holds true for this Michael Kors leopard print skirt I’m wearing today.  Last Fall I HAD to have it so I bought it and wore it a handful of times.  Unfortunately the cycle of buying clothes I had to have and then “falling out of love” with them was becoming too common, leaving me with a pile of rarely worn clothing.  To be honest, it kinda makes me ashamed of how greedy I had become with clothing.  I honestly thought I was adding to my wardrobe but in actuality, I was just collecting more and more stuff.  This challenge is teaching me to appreciate what I have and not to covet stuff so much.  Now don’t get me wrong, I still LOVE clothes but instead of running out to buy new stuff, I’m learning to work with what I got.

If you are participating in the 30 Day No Shopping Challenge, how is it going for you so far?

Have a wonderful day!
