Casual NYE

Happy Monday all!

Since I’m heading to my friend’s house to ring in the new year, I decided to go casual with a touch of  glam!  I instantly gravitated to these dark wash jeans to wear with this sequin bustier. I love dressing up denim and showing how versatile it is.  This way I can be comfortable  and cute for NYE festivities!

I want to thank all of you for your continued support this year.   All your love and kind comments truly mean so much to me.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Fall Layers With ModCloth!

Happy Thursday all!

Now that 99% of the US has been plunged into a deep freeze,  wearing layers has become a necessity to venture outside.  As I stated in my previous post, I’m all about wearing layers comfortably and fashionably.   One of my favorite retailers ModCloth reached out to me to share my Fall layering looks from their collection.    I picked layers that would compliment each other and could be incorporated into my Fall/Winter wardrobe.  A loose fitting cardigan is perfect for layering because you can add extra layers without feeling constricted.   I love mixing  rich Fall colors such as  mustard and burgundy together.   While these hues embody the season, there is still a pop of color with the mustard against the navy.   This versatile  layered look can easily transition from the weekend to work by swapping out the jeans for a skirt!

Off Duty Style: Chic Layers

TGIF all!

I’ve always considered November as the beginning of layering season. The weather in September and October is too mild for multiple layers but once November hits, all bets are off.  Layering as plus size woman can be tricky because I  don’t want to add bulk. I’ve  completely given up at layering a shirt under a sweater. I can never get it right and I end up feeling like a stuffed turkey!  So since I have no option but to wear layers, I’ve turned to  cardigans to fit my needs.  I’ve been wearing them with a t-shirts, button ups and turtlenecks for added warmth without the bulk. It goes without saying, cardigans are super versatile and can be easily incorporated into your lifestyle.  To have more of a variety when shopping for cardigans, look for oversize, wrap and wide cut “straight” styles as they are very plus friendly. This wide cut cardigan from H&M is an M/L but fits my 18/20 frame quite comfortably.

What are some of your layering tricks during the late Fall/Winter?

Have a wonderful weekend!

Off Duty Style: Mad For Plaid

Happy Hump Day all!

Each Fall I look for a statement coat whether that be in color or in print. Unfortunately finding a statement coat can be  somewhat tricky because many retailers don’t equate plus size with fashionable  which is  frustrating.  I yearn for the day when dark colored  coats are not presented as the only options for us. Until that happens, retailers such as Eloquii, ASOS and Simply Be  have stepped up by offering coats in a variety of colors and prints.   Eloquii’s plaid coat is an example of this.  It’s instantly become the  statement coat  I’ve been looking for.  It’s roomy without being bulky and versatile which is important to me. Plus it’s in red plaid!!! YES!!!

What is your favorite statement coat?

Off Duty Style: Monochromatic Love

TGIF all!

I know the thought of wearing one color (especially bright ones) might be scary to some but it can be done. Like with any trend you can modify it to your comfort level. Choose  a color that looks  good on you or  go with a dark color such as black to ease yourself into monochromatic dressing. I chose burgundy because I knew I already had these items in my closet and it’s one of my favorite colors of the season. I find that monochromatic dressing is a good way to get more mileage out of the clothes you ready have. So pull out that red skirt and sweater and wear it confidence!
