She’s Gotta Have It

Happy Hump Day all!

So it’s day 20 of my 30 Day No Shopping Challenge and not shopping is still a struggle but I’m finding it easier to resist my impulses. Since I haven’t been shopping, I’ve discovered clothing that at one time I HAD to have. This holds true for this Michael Kors leopard print skirt I’m wearing today.  Last Fall I HAD to have it so I bought it and wore it a handful of times.  Unfortunately the cycle of buying clothes I had to have and then “falling out of love” with them was becoming too common, leaving me with a pile of rarely worn clothing.  To be honest, it kinda makes me ashamed of how greedy I had become with clothing.  I honestly thought I was adding to my wardrobe but in actuality, I was just collecting more and more stuff.  This challenge is teaching me to appreciate what I have and not to covet stuff so much.  Now don’t get me wrong, I still LOVE clothes but instead of running out to buy new stuff, I’m learning to work with what I got.

If you are participating in the 30 Day No Shopping Challenge, how is it going for you so far?

Have a wonderful day!

I had a week moment yesterday! Macys sale, $139 CK white 3/4 length blazer, marked down to $29.75. I love long jackets and white in the winter…..but I resisted. Just barely! Love the leopard – I think I’ll pull out my leopard skirt to wear tomorrow – thanks!

Girl I know how you felt!!! On Tuesday this ASOS skirt was literally CALLING my name but I resisted. While it took all my might to resist shopping, it felt good to know I was in control!

Wow, that’s a great challenge.. somehow we are reading about it at day 20.. but the insights you have shared today are awesome.. ! And so true for the consumerism that we are all dealing with, at times without even realizing… Very brave of you to come forward and share that with your readers!! And BTW the skirt still looks fab!

If Princess “Kate” Middleton can shop her closet (and she does….many times)…..so can we!

She so does! And I HATE how the media bag her out for it… I think it’s wonderful that she has favourite pieces that she wears again and again. There is nothing wrong with that, and she looks fabulous no matter what.

Amazing skirt! If you are feeling the urge to shop I suggest watching a show about hoarders (there are loads of them). That will stop you right in your tracks!! Lol!

    Looks great on you!

I can’t honestly say I’m participating in the 30-day challenge as I hardly ever buy clothes anyway. 🙂

You look just fabulous – this is one of my favourite ensembles you have presented in! Keep on shopping that closet, hun. Why don’t you, for your 30 day finish line, arrange a swap with some girlfriends/other bloggers in your area to do a swap day?! Host it at your house, put on some yummy snacks and clear out all the stuff you don’t need. Then when your friends all arrive, you can pick over each other’s discarded items and find some wonderful “new” things for your wardrobe! Then you might even be motivated to start your 30 day challenge again. You are doing splendidly.

Girl, I’ve been doing this with you, and it’s hard. I’ve window shopped some websites just for fun, but I find myself clicking on them less since I’m not buying anything. I TOTALLY relate to you, especially this line: “Unfortunately the cycle of buying clothes I had to have and then “falling out of love” with them was becoming too common, leaving me with a pile of rarely worn clothing.”

I added no buying cosmetics to my challenge, but that wasn’t smart. Too many things to not buy in one month.. and I caved on that part. But, I’m still hanging strong with no clothes and accessories. I did make one exception and bought a second-hand lightweight coat because I don’t have one. It was only $20 and they don’t make it anymore, so I broke the rule for that. Other than that, I’m doing great.

Im glad you are joining me in this challenge! I too find myself not buying anything and being okay with that. There are some things I want, but nothing too crazy!
