Summer Hold Over Pt. 2

Happy Hump Day all!

In keeping with my promise to re-purpose some of my Summer clothes, I decided to wear this yellow skirt from Eloquii today. During the Summer I got a lot of wear out of this skirt primarily because I love yellow. Lately I’ve been abandoning the traditional Fall/Winter hues for more bright, fun colors. I chose my teal cowl neck sweater with the skirt to punch up the color combination. I added a yellow skinny belt to reduce the bulkiness of the sweater and give the outfit a more pulled together look. Can I digress for a moment to say how much I love Eloquii’s adjustable belts! Belts are often a crap shoot for me because they are either too short or too long. Their adjustable belts (I have more than one!) lets me determine how much belt I need. These belts have saved my outfit on many occasions!

My outfit is light on accessories because I don’t know what kind of necklace to wear with cowl necks. I feel like a long necklace would get swallowed up by the cowl. If anyone has any suggestions on what necklace to wear please feel free to share.

How are re-purposing your Summer clothes for Fall/Winter?

Have a great evening!

Fun happy outfit! Necklace-wise, I’d either wear a short necklace that would lay on my skin, or a long pendant necklace that would fall below the cowl. Alternately, you could put a fun brooch or two on one side of the collar.

I’ve seen ladies wear very long necklaces over their cowl neck sweaters too. It looks nice sometimes, but if you are on the busty side of things (as most plus size ladies are) it doesn’t tend to work so well. The necklace just falls into the cleavage and refuses to hang nicely.

Ooooh…thats a pretty pendant! Ive heard of Stella & Dot but never been to their site. Thanks for bringing them to my attention!

Very good ideas, especially the brooch on the side. Ill have to try that cause I do love a brooch!

You look fantastic in those bright colors! How do you get your adjustable belts from Eloquii to stay the size you’ve adjusted them to? I have two of the belts but I find the adjuster practically worthless because it doesn’t lock, meaning every time I stand, sit, or otherwise bend, the belt gets bigger and starts to fall down.

Really? Mine stay in place all the time. In fact they can be hard to adjust because they get stuck.

How about a pin on The cowl instead?

This is so pretty! I love turquoise and yellow together. I agree that some really long chains or a long pendant would be lovely but this does look finished just like this.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this color combination. It’s inspirational. Maybe sun and sky? fantastic belt it really brakes up the blue of the shirt. I always have problems with skinny waste belts. Your pull it off MASTERFULLY!

Thank you so much! There are a lot of different kinds of skinny belts. Maybe try a medium size belt instead of the really skinny belts. I know those kind work for me.

Skip the necklace. Go with some chandelier earrings or maybe a bold lipstick. Love this color combo:) You are a ray of sunshine!

I have a great skirt I just picked up at Fashion Bug on a store-closing clearance, and it’s got summer written all over it! Now that I finally have a half-slip, I can wear some of my summer skirts with tights in the colder weather.

I sometimes wear long necklaces with cowls, but not while also wear a belt. I may wear more flamboyant earrings instead.
