Thanksgiving Bling

Happy Monday all!

Thanksgiving is my favorite out of all the major holidays.  Every year I head to my older sister Virgie’s house to hang with family and stuff myself silly!  This year I decided to abandon my usual jean and turtleneck outfit and bring  a little sparkle to dinner by wearing this embellished sweatshirt from Loft.   It’s a perfect combination of glam and casual  that doesn’t go overboard.   Trust me when I say this sparkly number is going to be in heavy rotation this holiday season!

Have a wonderful day and a HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!

Fall Layers With ModCloth!

Happy Thursday all!

Now that 99% of the US has been plunged into a deep freeze,  wearing layers has become a necessity to venture outside.  As I stated in my previous post, I’m all about wearing layers comfortably and fashionably.   One of my favorite retailers ModCloth reached out to me to share my Fall layering looks from their collection.    I picked layers that would compliment each other and could be incorporated into my Fall/Winter wardrobe.  A loose fitting cardigan is perfect for layering because you can add extra layers without feeling constricted.   I love mixing  rich Fall colors such as  mustard and burgundy together.   While these hues embody the season, there is still a pop of color with the mustard against the navy.   This versatile  layered look can easily transition from the weekend to work by swapping out the jeans for a skirt!

Off Duty Style: Chic Layers

TGIF all!

I’ve always considered November as the beginning of layering season. The weather in September and October is too mild for multiple layers but once November hits, all bets are off.  Layering as plus size woman can be tricky because I  don’t want to add bulk. I’ve  completely given up at layering a shirt under a sweater. I can never get it right and I end up feeling like a stuffed turkey!  So since I have no option but to wear layers, I’ve turned to  cardigans to fit my needs.  I’ve been wearing them with a t-shirts, button ups and turtlenecks for added warmth without the bulk. It goes without saying, cardigans are super versatile and can be easily incorporated into your lifestyle.  To have more of a variety when shopping for cardigans, look for oversize, wrap and wide cut “straight” styles as they are very plus friendly. This wide cut cardigan from H&M is an M/L but fits my 18/20 frame quite comfortably.

What are some of your layering tricks during the late Fall/Winter?

Have a wonderful weekend!

Fall Styling With Poppy & Bloom

Happy Hump Day all!

I was first introduced to Poppy & Bloom back in June during Full Figured Fashion Week’s Indie Designer Show.  What attracted me to them was their take on plus size work wear.  Often plus size work clothing is just a blazer and skirt but Poppy & Bloom offered cute flirty dresses with a vintage flair.  Their clothes are specifically made to flatter the plus size body.  One of Poppy & Bloom’s credo is “Life is too short to wear boring clothing” and I couldn’t agree more!

Poppy & Bloom was gracious to send me their VERY popular Corner Office A Line Dress in Red (which is currently on sale!).  The material while it provides stretch still maintains its structure. The dress  is true to size and is not  loose fitting.  The only drawback (for me) is the above the knee length. Y’all all know about me and my shelf booty issues so I have to wear tights  with it.  I can’t have all my goodies showing at work when I  bend over to pick something up! (LOL)  Otherwise the dress is perfect for work and can be dressed up for an after work event.

If you sign up for Poppy & Bloom’s mailing list, you’ll get an instant 15% off code to use! So head over to there and show them some love!

Have a wonderful day!

Happy Thursday all!

30 Plus Style is back with another collaboration! This time we are taking on the color gray!   While gray is very big for the season it’s not a favorite of mine.  I guess it’s because Ive always associated it with cold, gloomy days.    So to get over my prejudice of gray, I dug into my closet and put together this outfit to highlight “50 Shades of Gray”!

Please check out the lovely ladies of 30 Plus Style and guest blogger Crystal from Sometimes Glam to see how they took on “50 Shades of Gray”!
