Life Update

Happy Tuesday y’all!

So y’all know I try to be as transparent as possible.  Many of you have followed me for years so I felt it was important to address my recent weight loss.   Last Fall I had gastric sleeve surgery.  I did it for health reasons  (although there isn’t a “right” or “wrong” reason to have the procedure).  I have no problem with being plus size nor do I want to be “skinny”.  I wanted to move from an unhealthy situation to a healthier one. My mother died at 57 of the illnesses I am currently diagnosed with.   At 49yrs old I know I could end up having a massive stroke  like my mother if I didn’t take charge of my health. I feel very comfortable saying if my mother were alive she would’ve supported my decision 100 percent. Trust me if I could have remained at my previous weight without health complications surgery would have never been an option.  This was not a decision that was made lightly.  I’m fortunate to have a PCP who doesn’t believe all my aliments are weight related.  I approached him about surgery after I had a health scare back in 2019.  That was the “come to Jesus moment” I needed to finally get help.

With that said you will never see me advocate for weight loss surgery (in fact I don’t recommend it), become some fitness guru or do “before & after” comparisons.   I will  continue to share pics of me at my previous size. I traveled to 18 countries, started a blog, stopped hating my body and wore my first two piece bathing suit at my former weight.  I will continue to live my life just as before. As Cece Olisa  stated “don’t wait on your weight to live your life” and I couldn’t agree more.

Have a wonderful day!

I’m happy you chose your health. I’m sorry to hear about your mom. She was so young. I want you around forever, so that was a big step to talk for yourself. These pants are super cute!

Glad to see you doing what you need to for yourself. Plus size influencers get carried away with the message sometimes. No matter how much we may love our bigger bodies, most of the time we are not healthy in them. I lost 35 lbs during lockdown myself not because I wanted to be a certain size, but because I got tired of feeling my heart trying to beat out of my chest while simply sitting and reading a book or watching TV.

Thank you for your transparency!!! Ultimately it is your body and your life so anybody who has an opinion about it can kick rocks. But I’m proud of you for putting yourself and your health first…and I know your Mom is too! (((big hugs))) Here’s to good health at every size!

    Hi,
You have always been so stylish and beautiful, but your health is the most important thing. It’s frightening when you have the same diseases that killed your mom. That’s why I quit smoking.
You look absolutely amazing. I know from others who have had surgery it’s not the end all for weight control. You still have to be careful.
Take care, we are all glad you are here

I can relate to the feeling mortality and the medical history of family at midlife. I am so happy you are doing what makes you feel good and be healthy; the world needs Georgette. And you look gorgeous in these photos too!

When I think of you, I think of your beautiful smile, your confidence, and your amazing fashion style. It would never have occurred to me to expect an explanation for anything you do. Sorry to hear about the kids of your mother. But I know she’s looking down upon you and is super-proud, always had been!

Truly appreciate the transparency, such a rarity. I’m glad you’re feeling good. And I’m so sorry about your mom — an awful loss.

You are beautiful at every size.
