Casual Friday: Now and Later

TGIF all!

Since Fall is less than a month away (YAY!),  Ive been  starting to think of  the transitional pieces in my closet.  For me a button up shirt is one of the best transitional pieces I own.  They can be worn alone with the sleeves rolled up or layered under jackets and sweaters.  As with any new season a bunch of trends have popped up.  Plaid has been crowned one of the seasons  newest and I’m excited to try it.    Since I’m new to plaid  I kept  it simple and  went with a button down shirt.  Keeping with my love of colors, I picked a plaid combo with colors I love. So heres my take on plaid for now and later!

What are some transitional pieces in your wardrobe?

Have a great weekend!

Reality Bites

Happy Hump Day all!

Whoever created the saying “you need a vacation from the vacation” wasn’t lying! Im still daydreaming about exotic drinks, warm sun and sandy beaches. We get so caught up with our jobs, responsibilities and family we forget to take care of ourselves. It felt wonderful not be worried about stuff and just be in the moment. My time away reminded me that its okay to take a break from life. I promised myself to try and go on a vacation at least every 6-8 months. I won’t let another 2 1/2 years go by before I take another break.

How do you “get away from it all”?

Have a wonderful day!

P.S. Yes I am wearing the same outfit I wore on my vacation today! 🙂

Casual Friday/Big Deal

TGIF all!

One of my readers Jagoda suggested I do a post on shopping for deals.  Honestly I really don’t have any strategy or plan when it comes to shopping. I only buy clothing that is on sale with (or without) a coupon. Signing up for text alerts from your favorite retailer is another way to keep up with sales and saving passes.  The alerts have discount codes that can be used at the register.  Macys and Lane Bryant provide this service for customers and more are getting on the bandwagon.   I also find that end of the season sales have a plethora of clothing options.  You might have noticed lately Summer clothing is being steeply discounted to make room for the Fall collections.   If you are an online shopper like me,  before I click the purchase button I search for coupon codes.   The two sites I use are Coupon Cabin and Retail Me Not.  Ive used their codes and saved money and sometimes (depending on the promotion) got free shipping!

Speaking of getting a deal, the pants Im wearing today I got from Macys a few weeks ago while visiting my sister in NYC. Retail these pants were priced at $120 but I got them for $32!  How you ask? In the store, the pants were on sale for  $75 but online the pants were being offered for $32.  I called Macys and asked if they would price match and I was told if I brought in proof of the online price they would. I took the screen shot of the webpage on my cell phone to the store and they gave me the online price.  Just by simply asking, I ended up saving a whopping $88 on these pants! Now that’s what I call a deal!

What are some of your tips on shopping for deals?

Have a wonderful weekend!

Accentuate the Positive

Happy Hump Day all!

I woke up feeling pretty crummy this morning. Lately I’ve been having some personal issues that have been overshadowing the good things in my life. It’s amazing how when one small thing goes wrong it can throw you off balance. Instead of using my outfit make me feel better I decided to focus on the great things in my life. I’m blessed to have  relatively good health, a roof over my head and a wonderful support system of family and friends. My self-esteem is the highest it’s ever been and I’m constantly growing as a person. While there are things I wish were different in my life, I can’t dwell on them. So today I’m making an effort to not focus on the negative and concentrate on the positive. Honestly it’s hard to do but I’m definitely on my way to changing my crummy mood.

How do you overcome a crummy mood?

Have a wonderful day!

Weekend Edition: Which Way To Go

Happy Monday all!

How was your weekend? Mine was pretty relaxed. On Saturday night I  had a date with a  nice man  who was respectful and made me smile.   Sunday afternoon I hung out with my girlfriends who I haven’t seen in a while due to our hectic schedules. Unfortunately I didn’t get any photos of my date outfit but I will say I clean up pretty nicely! 😉

Monday mornings are rough for me,  so I grabbed this dress because it was easy to wear. The bold print dominates the outfit so only minimal accessories are needed. After adding earrings, a bracelet and sandals I was ready to go in no time. The only downfall with this dress is that  it is higher in the back than in the front due to my “shelf” booty (LOL) so I end up constantly checking to see if my Spanx are showing( wearing  no shapewear is not an option for me).   I was too self conscious about the hike in the back so I ditched it and wore  something else.  I’m very much on the fence about whether I should keep or sell  this dress.  I love the print but I don’t like the length.  What should I do?!

Have an awesome day!
