Casual Friday/Im a Repeat Offender Pt. 2

TGIF all!

The saying “if aint broke don’t try to fix it” is my motto when it comes to clothes. If I like something and it looks good on me I’m gonna keep wearing it. From time to time I like to shake things up but I always rely on my wardrobe staples. Maxi dresses are one of my staple pieces especially during the summer. I’m definitely a repeat offender when it comes to maxi dresses because I wear them ALL THE TIME. Maxi dresses makes it easy for me to stay cool and stylish during those hot, sweltering Summer days. During the cooler months I transition them over  by wearing them with  a jacket or blazer (I also wear a pullover sweater over my maxi & belt it  at the waist).  Plus (in my opinion) they flatter ALL body types…YES!

I want to see you wearing your favorite “repeat offender” outfit or item. Link your photos in the comment section and I will feature you on the blog with other “repeat offenders”!

Have a wonderful day and a great weekend!

All Mixed Up

Happy Hump Day all!

I’ve been PMSing the last couple of days so I’ve been making myself feel better by continuing to get dressed  up for work. Dressing up  is the last thing I wanna do because I feel frumpy and unattractive during this time.  If I could get away wearing a potato sack with flip-flops I would. And on top of  that I start crying over the silliest things.  I swear on Sunday night I started  tearing up watching a GEICO commercial!   PMS sucks!

I’m including Monday’s OOTD in this post because I wasnt able to post then due to problems with my Internet connection at home.

How do you cope with PMS?

Have a great day!

Weekend Edition/Too Hot!

Happy Monday all!

To say it was hot this past weekend would be an understatement.  Since I’ve inherited my mother’s dislike for the heat I attempted to stay in the house under the central air but that got boring real quick!  So when Tamera called and wanted to hang out  Sunday afternoon, I quickly pulled together an outfit for the  sweltering heat.   I’ll admit I still have some hang ups about my big arms but it was too hot for me to care about what other people think.  The last thing I want to be  is covered up on a sweltering day,  so my arms had no choice but to come out!

How was your weekend?

Have a great day!

Weekend Edition/Small Hurdles

Happy Monday all!

As you ladies (and some gents!) know I love wearing prints but when it comes to printed pants I pause.   I tend to be self-conscious about my ample hips and printed pants would definitely highlight them.  I bought a pair of  printed Eloquii  pants back in January  with every intention of being brave and wearing them but I just couldn’t do it.

While browsing the  Pose application on my phone a few weeks ago I came across the beautiful Natalie of The Tiny Closet wearing this wonderful outfit.

In Natalie’s post, she talked about her apprehension towards wearing prints. Among the reasons she cited for passing them over was the possibility that wearing them might not suit her build.  Eventually Natalie decided to wear a bright print skirt (which she made!) and paired it with pieces that allowed the print to stand out.   Natalie’s post got me to thinking about my neglected Eloquii pants.  She and I have similar misgivings about wearing print but by her willingness to step outside her comfort zone, Natalie was able to overcome her apprehension.  The post really resonated with me because I know stepping outside your comfort zone can be  scary but the payoff is that you grow as a person. I decided to put aside my fears and wear my printed pants.    Surprisingly  I didn’t feel as self-conscious about my hips as I thought I would.  No one ran out of their house screaming  “HIPS!!!”.  Natalie’s post inspired me to overcome this small hurdle.   It feels good to not to be  self conscious about wearing printed pants.

Please check out Natalie’s blog for more fabulous looks! Have a great day!
