Accentuate the Positive

Happy Hump Day all!

I woke up feeling pretty crummy this morning. Lately I’ve been having some personal issues that have been overshadowing the good things in my life. It’s amazing how when one small thing goes wrong it can throw you off balance. Instead of using my outfit make me feel better I decided to focus on the great things in my life. I’m blessed to have  relatively good health, a roof over my head and a wonderful support system of family and friends. My self-esteem is the highest it’s ever been and I’m constantly growing as a person. While there are things I wish were different in my life, I can’t dwell on them. So today I’m making an effort to not focus on the negative and concentrate on the positive. Honestly it’s hard to do but I’m definitely on my way to changing my crummy mood.

How do you overcome a crummy mood?

Have a wonderful day!

Weekend Edition: Which Way To Go

Happy Monday all!

How was your weekend? Mine was pretty relaxed. On Saturday night I  had a date with a  nice man  who was respectful and made me smile.   Sunday afternoon I hung out with my girlfriends who I haven’t seen in a while due to our hectic schedules. Unfortunately I didn’t get any photos of my date outfit but I will say I clean up pretty nicely! 😉

Monday mornings are rough for me,  so I grabbed this dress because it was easy to wear. The bold print dominates the outfit so only minimal accessories are needed. After adding earrings, a bracelet and sandals I was ready to go in no time. The only downfall with this dress is that  it is higher in the back than in the front due to my “shelf” booty (LOL) so I end up constantly checking to see if my Spanx are showing( wearing  no shapewear is not an option for me).   I was too self conscious about the hike in the back so I ditched it and wore  something else.  I’m very much on the fence about whether I should keep or sell  this dress.  I love the print but I don’t like the length.  What should I do?!

Have an awesome day!

Im a Repeat Offender!

Happy Hump Day all!

I was reading my blogger buddy Parker’s post Repeat Offender on her blog Everyday Runway and it got me thinking “I’m a repeat offender!” Currently I have my black & white striped shirt from Ann Taylor Loft in serious rotation (it was originally $44.50 and I got it for $13!) . I swear I wear it at least three times a week.  I think the reason why I’m so attached to the shirt is because I love how black & white instantly makes an outfit crisp and sleek.  I’ve been pairing the shirt with everything I can get my hands on…but its okay! I’ll happily keep offending until I find another item  to latch on to!

Are you a repeat offender? If so, what item of clothing or accessory you can’t get enough of?

Have a wonderful day!

Happy Monday all!

After a quiet weekend, my girlfriends and I decided to head out Sunday night. It’s been awhile since we’ve gone out dancing. Back in the day, we would club hop until the wee hours of the morning and get into all kinds of mischief. Now when we hang out, we’re calling it a night at 10:30pm! While club hopping has lost it’s luster, once in a while we like to get gussied up and head out to shake our groove thangs! LOL

How was your weekend?!

Have a great day!

Casual Friday/If It Fits….

TGIF all!

On Tuesday I was selected for jury duty which instantly threw me into a funky mood.  Eventually  I had to suck it up and perform my civil duty  (Grrr!).  The upside to serving  is that I can sleep an  extra hour and wear  casual clothes  which leads me to the dress I’m wearing today.  I tried to stay away from getting  another striped dress but I couldn’t let this baby go!  The dress is from Banana Republic (yes, Banana Republic!).  When I usually go into their store it is  to browse for accessories because I told myself I couldn’t fit their clothes.  While checking out a necklace there a few weeks ago,  this maxi dress  beckoned me over.  I knew I had to have it but I wasn’t sure if I could get into an XL (which is their largest size).  After going back & forth, I decided to try it on and …IT FIT!  Now does this mean I can wear Banana Republic’s clothes, probably not but it does  show that you shouldn’t stop yourself from  trying  on “straight” size clothes. The only thing that can happen is that it doesn’t fit!

Have a wonderful weekend!
