The beautiful warm weather I’ve been wishing for has finally arrived (what took you so long?!!). I was finally able to leave the house without wearing tights today. I still have them on standby just in case the weather decides to be fickle. But for right now, here’s to gorgeous temperatures and bare legs!

This time of year is always tricky for me with DST and the transition of Winter into Spring. Lemme tell ya, DST has been kicking my butt! The time change has thrown off my sleep schedule so much I’ve been dragging myself out the bed in the morning. Last night I was finally able to get a full night of sleep so I hope this is a sign my body has adjusted to the time change. We’ll see!
Now that Spring is a mere week away I so badly want to ditch my down coat and multiple layers but the lingering cold weather won’t allow it. So until the weather warms, my Winter clothes will be sticking around. My outfit today is a combination of both seasons . Representing Winter we have my opaque tights, suede flats and spotted long sleeve cardigan. In the Spring corner we have my yellow pencil skirt, floral necklace and pink belt. The outfit works because I get to feel “Springy” while keeping warm against the late Winter chill.

Over the weekend I agreed to participate in Nel’s (Girls of Plenty) challenge for plus size bloggers to interpret the Spring 2013 trends. Nel was inspired to start the challenge after reading an article from Bethany Rutter of Arched Eyebrow (read the article here). Today’s challenge wasnt too hard because what woman doesn’t have black and white in her closet?! I decided to mix black and white prints together for my take on the trend. For some reason I really like the pairing of polka dots and stripes together. This is as far as I’ll probably go with the mixing print trend. I’m not very good at putting different prints together so I’ll just stick to what I know! 🙂

Today is my 41st birthday and I’m feeling fine! I’m extremely grateful to see another year of life. This year I plan to visit Paris, continue a healthy lifestyle and apply for a doctorate in social work (finally!). So far my forties are becoming the best years of my adult life!
Here’s a pic of what I wore to dinner with my friend Andrea. It was a casual dinner but I didn’t feel like wearing jeans today so I opted for my black & white striped pencil skirt and red peplum top.

To say it’s cold outside would be an understatement . It’s too cold to walk, talk, breathe…well you get the point. When it’s like this, all I want to do is bundle up and stay home but until I hit the Powerball lottery I have to go to work. So today’s post is about the 3 essentials I need to keep warm during these frigid days.
1. My puffer coat: I used to be in fear of looking like the Abominable Snowman in a puffer coat but after freezing last year, I decided to let that go and get one. After looking high and low for a good coat, I found this London Fog number on Macys website. What drew me to the coat was all the rave reviews it received. Not one person who bought it rated it under four stars. The coat isn’t bulky and is actually pretty light. The down fill has kept me warm and comfortable outside. Even when the wind is blowing I don’t feel the cold air. The coat is also water resistant so no more shoveling snow in a soggy coat. It also comes with a detachable faux fur lined hood.
2. My UGG Boots: I resisted getting a pair of UGG boots because everyone and their mom has a pair. My feet are the first thing that gets cold so I had to find a comfortable boot that keep them warm. Once I found a pair I liked (on sale no less!) I haven’t regretted my decision. I no longer worry about my feet becoming frozen blocks of ice when I walk to work from the train station.
3. My comfy scarf: I never leave my house without my comfy scarf. It may not look like much, but it does keep my face warm.
