Casual Friday/Big Deal

TGIF all!

One of my readers Jagoda suggested I do a post on shopping for deals.  Honestly I really don’t have any strategy or plan when it comes to shopping. I only buy clothing that is on sale with (or without) a coupon. Signing up for text alerts from your favorite retailer is another way to keep up with sales and saving passes.  The alerts have discount codes that can be used at the register.  Macys and Lane Bryant provide this service for customers and more are getting on the bandwagon.   I also find that end of the season sales have a plethora of clothing options.  You might have noticed lately Summer clothing is being steeply discounted to make room for the Fall collections.   If you are an online shopper like me,  before I click the purchase button I search for coupon codes.   The two sites I use are Coupon Cabin and Retail Me Not.  Ive used their codes and saved money and sometimes (depending on the promotion) got free shipping!

Speaking of getting a deal, the pants Im wearing today I got from Macys a few weeks ago while visiting my sister in NYC. Retail these pants were priced at $120 but I got them for $32!  How you ask? In the store, the pants were on sale for  $75 but online the pants were being offered for $32.  I called Macys and asked if they would price match and I was told if I brought in proof of the online price they would. I took the screen shot of the webpage on my cell phone to the store and they gave me the online price.  Just by simply asking, I ended up saving a whopping $88 on these pants! Now that’s what I call a deal!

What are some of your tips on shopping for deals?

Have a wonderful weekend!

Im a Repeat Offender!

Happy Hump Day all!

I was reading my blogger buddy Parker’s post Repeat Offender on her blog Everyday Runway and it got me thinking “I’m a repeat offender!” Currently I have my black & white striped shirt from Ann Taylor Loft in serious rotation (it was originally $44.50 and I got it for $13!) . I swear I wear it at least three times a week.  I think the reason why I’m so attached to the shirt is because I love how black & white instantly makes an outfit crisp and sleek.  I’ve been pairing the shirt with everything I can get my hands on…but its okay! I’ll happily keep offending until I find another item  to latch on to!

Are you a repeat offender? If so, what item of clothing or accessory you can’t get enough of?

Have a wonderful day!

Weekend Edition/Small Hurdles

Happy Monday all!

As you ladies (and some gents!) know I love wearing prints but when it comes to printed pants I pause.   I tend to be self-conscious about my ample hips and printed pants would definitely highlight them.  I bought a pair of  printed Eloquii  pants back in January  with every intention of being brave and wearing them but I just couldn’t do it.

While browsing the  Pose application on my phone a few weeks ago I came across the beautiful Natalie of The Tiny Closet wearing this wonderful outfit.

In Natalie’s post, she talked about her apprehension towards wearing prints. Among the reasons she cited for passing them over was the possibility that wearing them might not suit her build.  Eventually Natalie decided to wear a bright print skirt (which she made!) and paired it with pieces that allowed the print to stand out.   Natalie’s post got me to thinking about my neglected Eloquii pants.  She and I have similar misgivings about wearing print but by her willingness to step outside her comfort zone, Natalie was able to overcome her apprehension.  The post really resonated with me because I know stepping outside your comfort zone can be  scary but the payoff is that you grow as a person. I decided to put aside my fears and wear my printed pants.    Surprisingly  I didn’t feel as self-conscious about my hips as I thought I would.  No one ran out of their house screaming  “HIPS!!!”.  Natalie’s post inspired me to overcome this small hurdle.   It feels good to not to be  self conscious about wearing printed pants.

Please check out Natalie’s blog for more fabulous looks! Have a great day!

Happy Monday all!

After a quiet weekend, my girlfriends and I decided to head out Sunday night. It’s been awhile since we’ve gone out dancing. Back in the day, we would club hop until the wee hours of the morning and get into all kinds of mischief. Now when we hang out, we’re calling it a night at 10:30pm! While club hopping has lost it’s luster, once in a while we like to get gussied up and head out to shake our groove thangs! LOL

How was your weekend?!

Have a great day!

P.S. Check me and other awesome bloggers out at London Times’  Savvy Summer. Sign up for their newsletter for a chance to win $1,0000! How cool is that?!

Something’s Gotta Give

Happy Hump Day all!

In “Something’s Gotta Give” (one of my favorite romantic comedies) there’s scene where Diane Keaton is wearing this fabulous white suit while confronting Jack Nicholson’s character at a restaurant.  After seeing her in that suit, I wanted one of my own.   Unfortunately back then  the thought of wearing all white scared the hell out of me, so I shelved my white suit dreams.  Now wearing all white is no longer  a taboo for me.  This morning, I  put together pieces in my wardrobe  and decided to make my white suit dreams come true!

Would you wear a white suit?

Have a great day!
