Fall Break Pt. 2

Happy Saturday all!

I would be remiss if I didn’t include my outfits I wore on my vacay.  Since I’m committed to my 30 Day No Shopping Challenge, I didn’t buy anything for the trip.  This was the first time I had to shop my closet for a vacation and not rely on buying new clothes. It felt good to pick out items I haven’t worn in months.  Also this was the first time I didn’t over pack.  I simply took what I needed which surprisingly fit into one small suitcase!

Have a great weekend!

Putting It All Together

Happy Hump Day!

Shopping my closet this week has been very interesting.  While going through my closet, I had to acknowledge my cycle of shopping.  I found when I would get frustrated while figuring out what to wear, I would just give up and buy a new outfit.  Sounds crazy right? I  would justify needing new clothes by saying “I don’t have anything to wear!”   I’m ashamed to say there are clothes in my closet that I’ve only worn maybe twice and haven’t wore them again.  This leopard print shirt and mustard yellow pencil skirt I’m wearing today is prime example of this.  I can count on one hand how many times I’ve worn them, which is a shame.  There are so many ways I can style these pieces and I plan on finally giving them their due!

What gems do you have in your closet that you aren’t wearing?

Have a wonderful day!

Casual Friday: Style Inspiration

TGIF everybody!

My outfit inspiration today comes from the lovely Shea of Curves and Confidence.  I’ve been a fan of her sleek, polished style for a while now, so when I saw her outfit on Pinterest, I knew I had to put my spin on it.  Shea’s ensemble was right up my alley because it combined two of my favorite things, hot pink and leopard print.  The pop of  bright color compliments her outfit and makes it stand out.  I also liked that she wasnt afraid to wear a strong color to work. Often people shy away from wearing bright colors in the workplace but Shea shows if you wear it properly, you can definitely pull it off!

Check out Shea’s blog to see more of her fabulous looks!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Cold Weather Chic

Happy Hump Day all!

With day light savings time right around the corner, colder weather isn’t too far behind. Falling temperatures doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice style when it comes to your Winter coat. There is a selection of colorful, printed options to warm any fashionista’s heart.  If you’re  in the market for a coat his season,  why not go for a red one?  A red coat will add an instant pop color to your Winter ensemble.  Want to step outside your comfort zone this season?  A leopard print coat is a fun way to step up your coat game.  A bold cobalt blue down coat will not only keep you warm but on trend.  Below are a few coats to that will definitely make you stand out in a Winter wonderland!

Have a great day!

Casual Friday: You Can Wear That!

TGIF all!

I’ve been eying the camo trend for a few weeks now and was toying with giving it a try.  After checking out my blogger buddy Dionne in a pair of Old Navy camo print Rockstar jeans, I decided to order them. I have to admit when I got these pants I thought they might be too “young” for me. I didn’t want to seem like I was trying too hard but then I thought, why not? “Dressing your age” is another of those “fashion rules” that are meant to make women feel ashamed about aging. It’s based in this notion that women over 40 don’t have the right to be trendy or chic. That’s pure BS! I dress WAY better now than I did in my 20s and 30s! Style doesn’t die after 40, it changes and adapts to what you want it to be. Only you have the power to define who you are. Don’t let  society’s skewered perception of older women stop you from wearing what you want.

Have a wonderful weekend!
