Pastel Power

Happy Hump Day everyone! Hope your week is going well so far!

In the past I wasn’t a fan of pastel colors mainly because of the “rule” that plus size women shouldn’t wear light colors. So being a good follower, I avoided pastels like the plague until now. A few weeks ago I was on Talbots website and they were having a 90% off (yes 90% off!) sale. The crop pants that were originally priced $79.50 were on sale for $7.50! I was like “oh yeah I’m getting these” but they only had my size in the light green color. For a second I hesitated but decided to get them anyway. Buying these pants was another step in breaking fashion rules that I’ve allowed to control my clothing choices. The pants are more of a spearmint green color which looks great with my yellow flutter sleeve blouse. The blouse is big on me so I belted it at the waist to give it shape. I added my chunky green necklace and sliver flats to round out the outfit.

Will you give pastel colors a chance this Spring? Have a great evening!

Casual Friday/Loving the Blues

TGIF everyone! I hope everyone has great plans for the weekend!

Although I still go to court on Friday, I can be a little free with my outfit choices. I got this blue printed maxi skirt from Old Navy a couple of weeks ago and I thought it would be perfect for casual Friday. I think it’s such a fun skirt that can be dressed up or down. I plan to get ALOT use out of it this summer. To keep the skirt work appropriate, I dressed it up with my white cowl neck shirt and denim blazer. I added my navy beaded necklace for a little pizzazz and my red wedges to break up the blue tones.

What is your favorite Friday outfit? Have a great weekend!!!

Casual Friday/Red & Tan

TGIF!!! I hope everyone has great plans for the weekend. I plan to relax and enjoy the time away from work.

When I first saw this dress on the Gap website I knew I had to have it! It’s the perfect spring/summer dress for work. The cotton material is comfortable and light. The dress reminds me of the 50s style dresses with the fitted bodice and full skirt. The red stripes really make the dress and give it that pop of color. I was lucky that my Ann Taylor Loft cardigan matched perfectly with the red stripes!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Say Yes!!!

Good afternoon everyone! My co-worker Candice will be the first person to tell you she shies away from color but today she came into the office wearing this wonderful red blazer! According to Candice, wearing red is a huge step out of her comfort zone. I’m glad Candace decided to feel brave enough to wear the blazer. Doesn’t she look great?!!! Have a wonderful day!!! 20120419-100840.jpg

Pretty in Pink

Happy Hump Day all! Half the week is over already! Only two more days left til the weekend! Woo hoo!

When I first wore these pants (here), I didn’t know what to wear with them. I fell back my trusty black & white staples because I wanted to tone down the color of the pants. Wearing color pants is new for me and I still struggle with drawing attention to myself. I’m working on being comfortable with my body and wearing bold eye-catching colors. Today I wanted to take another step towards that by making my pink pants the focus of the outfit. These pants are a wonderful shade of pink. To attempt tone them down would be doing me such a disservice. My journey to self love is not complete but I plan to make it as colorful as possible!

What steps are you taking to become comfortable with yourself? Have a great evening!
