Casual Friday: Love Conquers All

TGIF all!

In this world where hatred and evil reside, the human spirit still flourishes and heals its self.  The events in Charleston, SC have shaken me to the core just like the Sandy Hook and the Virginia Tech shootings.  My heart is heavy with sorrow for the victims and their families.  When evil manifests itself in such horrific acts, I tend to cling closer to my family and friends. Initially this post was going to be about how my blogger boo Sandra from La Pecosa Preciosa inspired my outfit today but I want to shift away from that.  I want to talk about how in less than a years time, Sandra has become my sister from another mother. There isn’t a day that goes by that we don’t speak to one another (trust me if I don’t Snapchat her in the AM, she is on me! LOL).  Sandra always has my back and is completely accepting of me and my quirky ways.  She is truly beautiful inside and out. I love her so much and feel enormously blessed to have her in my life.

So today tell your husband/wife/GF/BF/partner or life mate you love them, banish negative thoughts,  hold your kids a second longer, call your mom or sister and say “I appreciate you”. Help me show that love does conquer all!

The Three Palms

Happy Monday all!

Sorry about my missed post on Friday but I’ve been out of commission since last Thursday. I was diagnosed with Vertigo and between the dizzy spells and the severe drowsiness from the medication, I was out of commission this past weekend. The combination of the  antibiotic meds and resting this weekend have me on the road to recovery!

This week Im featured on Fabulous After 40 as their Style Blazer. I’m so geeked about having the opportunity to spread my message that style has no age or size.  Plus size women are always left out of the conversation when it comes to style simply because of our size.  I find that to be completely ridiculous because style has nothing to do with size.  Blogging has allowed me to meet so many stylish plus size women.  These women shatter the myth that plus size women cannot be stylish.  Style is for everyBODY!

For instance take the palm print trend that is all the rage this Summer.  We can rock it just like our “straight” size sisters and to prove that point,  I pulled together three different looks to show you how to wear it this season!

Going Solo

Happy Monday all!

Being single the majority of the time for me is a blessing.  It affords me freedom to just get up and go.  While I would love to have a family, I haven’t met the right man yet so I decided long ago I was not going to allow my status to stop me from experincing life. I’ve travelled to the Summer Olympics (in 1996), EPCOT Center and multiple cities alone.  Yes it’s scary at first traveling by alone but I’m used to it. So yesterday  morning I decided to go to the Barnes Foundation (a MUST see if you love museums) for their First Sunday event. It was a gorgeous Summer day and I thoroughly enjoyed spending my morning among the beautiful works of Matisse, Cezanne and Picasso.

So if you’re single like me, don’t despair, get up and go!

Treat Yourself

Happy Monday all!

Almost  two weeks ago, my BFF and I were having dinner and talking about how much we needed a vacation.  I had been feeling stressed and needed to get away ASAP.   So after searching the internet, we found our perfect trip…a 7 day cruise to Bermuda leaving out of NYC.  The only draw back was that  it was leaving in THREE DAYS on that Sunday!   After my supervisor approved my vacation time for the following week, we booked it that Thursday afternoon!   Everything worked out so smoothly it was like we were meant to go away.

This was the first time I’ve ever booked a last-minute vacation  but it was the BEST  decision I’ve made so far this year. Sometimes we get so caught up with life we begin to neglect ourselves.  I had twinges of guilt after booking but I stopped feeling guilty.  There is nothing wrong with putting you first and doing something amazing for yourself.  My BFF and I had an amazing time on the Norwegian Breakaway and in Bermuda.  Bermuda is ridiculously GORGEOUS.  It’s pink sand beaches completely live up to their world renowned reputation.  The mild weather was perfect for laying out in the sun and relaxing (which I did ALOT!).  I highly recommend going to Bermuda, you wont regret it at all!

Summer is literally around the corner and hitting the beach is high on my list. Years ago I used to dread going to the beach because the swimwear options for us were so depressing! Thank God Plus size swimwear has changed for the better!

Due to the rise of the “fatkini” all bodies are bikini bodies! Bikinis for plus size women used to be unheard of but now they’re the norm. Still want to rock a two piece but a bikini isn’t your style? Then the tankini is for you! They too have been updated to include on trend styles.
