Spring Layers

TGIF all!

While Spring has sprung, the weather outside isn’t warm enough to ditch my tights just yet.  Until it’s warm enough to go bare legged , I’m going to layer my  jeans/pants over my cute Spring dresses.  It’s actually a win-win for me because when the temps go up, I can just take off the pants!   I’ve been a huge fan of wearing dresses over pants since Summer 2014 . At first I was skeptical the trend would work on my body but I was pleasantly surprised when it did.   I think it’s a fun way to rework your wardrobe and add new life to your closet staples.

If you’re thinking on trying this trend, here are some tips on how to wear a dress over jeans/ pants:

  1. Any dress will do: Add jeans/pants to a dress in your closet that has gotten short over the years.  Layer a pair of skinny jeans under a shirt dress to breathe new life into it.
  2. Straight, cropped and skinny leg jeans/pants are best to layer under your dress.  It balances out your proportions and stops you from looking frumpy.
  3. Add height: any heel whether its a  kitten or stiletto will add length to  streamline your look.

Have a wonderful weekend!

EnTRENCHed

TGIF all!

A trench coat is simply one of those clothing items that will never go out of style.  No matter how it’s redesigned it’s still a trench coat.  If you don’t have one, you gotta get one. Next to a denim jacket, it’s one piece of Spring outerwear that literally goes with everything you own.  If you already have one, spruce it up by tying it with a structured belt instead of the one it comes with. Adding a colorful or printed scarf is another easy way to update your old trench.  If you want to tap into your inner Miranda Priestly,  wear it over your shoulders for an effortlessly chic look.  Trench coats are blank canvas waiting for you make it your own because who said outerwear should be boring!

I just wanted to take a moment to thank everyone for supporting my blog. I am beyond grateful for your continued love and support.  This is my fifth year of blogging and there are times when I question if I should  continue with blogging.  Usually when I’m feeling this way, I’ll get an amazing comment or email from a reader that makes everything so clear for me.  So thank each and every one of you visiting, reading, liking, subscribing and continuing to walk with me through this blogging journey.

Have a wonderful day!

45 and Feeling Fine

TGIF all!

Today is my 45th birthday and I am  blessed to  see another year of life.  As I get older the phrase “time is not on my side” has begun to take on a whole new meaning for me.  We  have this one life to live and we should enjoy it every second of it.  Instead of focusing on things I cannot change I’m going to make an effort to live in the present. I will continue to be grateful for the life that I have and not take my loved ones for granted.    I plan to make the most of my time and enjoy every second of it!

Break The Rules

Happy Monday all!

As women we’re often being told what we can and cannot do.  Plus size women are constantly reminded of our “limitations” because of our size. What if we as women decided to reject these “rules” and make our own?  What if we just decided to live life on our terms and not care what people think? I think we would be pretty badass! We would go out into the world wearing white pants in the middle of Winter rocking vertical stripes on our plus bodies without a care in the world. We would date  a younger man and laugh off any “cougar” references.  We would embrace those fine lines and wrinkles on our face that society deems unsightly.  We would  forcefully reject being called a “bitch”when we assert ourselves.

It’s  hard  to give up  rules because they offer a sense of security.  Not all rules are bad, just the ones that limit your growth. Those are the rules are meant to be broken.

Have a wonderful day!
