Casual Friday/Breaking the Rules

TGIF!!! Woo hoo!

So since I’ve been breaking my fashion rules this week, I figured why not go all the way?! Stripes were one of my fashion “no no’s” because they supposedly made you look wider. So again being a good follower, I avoided stripes until this dress. I love this dress because it’s comfortable and figure flattering. The gentle ruching and tie on the side help smooth out my tummy area. The black and white stripes are classic and great for a first time wearer of a striped dress. I added my new Nine West red mini platform heels for a pop of color.

Are stripes in your future? Have a great day!

Casual Friday/Red & Tan

TGIF!!! I hope everyone has great plans for the weekend. I plan to relax and enjoy the time away from work.

When I first saw this dress on the Gap website I knew I had to have it! It’s the perfect spring/summer dress for work. The cotton material is comfortable and light. The dress reminds me of the 50s style dresses with the fitted bodice and full skirt. The red stripes really make the dress and give it that pop of color. I was lucky that my Ann Taylor Loft cardigan matched perfectly with the red stripes!

Have a wonderful weekend!

All Mixed Up!

Happy Monday all! Hope everyone had a great weekend. Can I tell you DST is kicking my butt?!!! I was an hour late for work this morning! Hopefully I’ll adjust to the time change by the end of the day…LOL

My outfit today is inspired by the mixing print trend. I’ve always wanted to try it but didn’t know to pull it off. I read a few articles about how to mix prints but I was still kind of baffled on how to do it. Despite this I was determined to at least try it. So this is my attempt at mixing prints. I kept it simple by using black and white prints. I paired my black /white striped blazer with my white/black polka dot ruffle blouse. I figured since the polka dots were small they would complement the stripes. I then added my red pencil skirt for a pop of color.

Are you going to try mixing your prints? Have a great day!
