Casual Friday: Denim Flares + Off Shoulder Top

TGIF all!

One of the things I love about Fall is getting to wear my jeans that I’ve stored away for the Summer.  I’m not one of those people who can wear jeans during warmer months because I sweat so much!   This season flare jeans have made a comeback due to the  70’s being hot right now.  I’ve always been a fan of flare jeans because they flatter my shape (yes, I said the “F” word! LOL) and they make my butt look good!  These Lane Bryant flares do exactly just that.  The stretch in the jean contours and hugs my curves.  When I tried them on, I didn’t want to take them off!  I haven’t been excited about a pair of jeans like this in a while.   The jeans also come in a light wash if you’re not a fan of the dark wash that  I’m wearing.

Casual Friday: Pre Fall Faves!

I can’t believe Fall is almost here! It seems like we wait FOREVER for Spring & Summer and then it zips by.  Although I’m sad to see Summer go, Fall is one of my favorite seasons.  I always look forward to adding a few pieces to my wardrobe to ease the seasonal transition.  Below are  a few items that are on my list for Fall.  I always look for versatile pieces to mix and match with items that are already in my closet.

Polka Dot Trench from Modcloth:  Looking to replace your old trench coat this Fall? Look no further!  Pair this trench with a striped shirt and jeans to rock mixed prints and elevate your casual look.

Faux leather pleated midi skirt from Charlotte Russe: What more can I say?!  This skirt looks good on EVERY body type! Plus it’s less than $30!!!

Denim culottes from Eloquii: These definitely up your jean game a notch! Dress them up with a blouse and heels for a chic but comfy date night outfit.

Tassle earrings from Bauble Bar: These are an easy way to ease into a statement earring without going crazy. They also come in a variety of Fall colors!

Sign Me Up Gladiator flats from Nine West: This seasons hottest shoe is something EVERYONE can wear.  The rich burgundy color screams Fall and goes with a variety of colors and prints. P.S. these go up to size 11.

Carryall Tote from Gap: A tote that goes with everything is must in any closet. This bag from Gap completely fits the bill.  It’s roomy enough to go from work, school and everything in between.

Tie Neck Blouse from Forever 21: This blouse is a nod to the 70’s trend that is hot for Fall. Pair it with your faux leather pleated skirt (hint, hint!), black blazer and a pair of leopard print heels for a cool work outfit.

Women’s Plus Mid Rise Stovepipe Pants from Old Navy: OR you could wear the blouse with these CUTE leopard print pants and a pair of black loafers for a cute Casual Friday outfit!

For transitional seasons like Spring, I keep my outerwear choices simple since I only have a limited window to wear them.  Honestly, a trench coat and denim jacket are pretty much all I  wear during the season.  They’re easily interchangeable and go with everything in my closet.  On a chilly morning, I layer a sweater underneath to keep me warm.  While I endorse the trench and denim jacket,  a rain coat is essential especially during  those rainy April days.  Also a good  rain coat can  be a great substitution for a trench.  This way you’re killing two birds with one stone!

Cape Redux

Happy Monday all!

The last cape I wore was a white crochet number when I was about 5 years old.  As an adult I’ve admired of them afar until I stumbled upon this  Ann Taylor trench cape last month.  I immediately snatched it up because I knew it would make a great transition jacket.  I ordered the  XXL (size 18)  and it fit perfectly.  While its way too cold to wear it now, this cape will be in HEAVY rotation once Spring comes around!

Happy 3rd Blogoversay!

Happy Monday all!

I can’t believe it’s already the 3rd anniversary of the blog! From winning a Redbook Real Women Style award to working with amazing plus brands such as Eloquii and Lane Bryant, this past year of blogging so far has been my most satisfying.  Blogging continues to help me grow as a person and helps me to learn new things about myself. Participating in the 30 Plus Style Collaboration with fellow bloggers I deeply admire helped me to further step outside my comfort zone and try new trends (Yep, I wore a crop top!). It was wonderful to be apart of group of women over 30 (a group that is often ignored by plus brands) proving style has no age or size.

Another highlight has been the friendships I’ve developed over the year. I’ve been lucky to make lasting connections with intelligent women who are just as beautiful on the inside as they are on the outside. Prior to blogging it was hard for me to make new friends due to my shyness. Through blogging and attending various events, I’ve been able to overcome my shyness. Now when I enter a room of unfamiliar faces, I’m no longer afraid to walk up to people and introduce myself.

Of course none of these accomplishments wouldn’t have been possible without the support of the BEST readers in the world! Thank you SO much for all your love and support this past year!
