TGIF all!
To say I need a vacation is an understatement. I firmly believe that taking time off is a form of self care. It’s so easy for us to put our needs aside until we almost have a breakdown. It’s not selfish or self centered to put your needs first from time to time. We all need time off from work to decompress and relax even if it’s just for a day. I take a “mental health” day every other month to just veg out and relax. On that day I don’t entertain BS or deal with any stress. My “mental health” days tide me over until I can take a longer vacation. Since I’ve been doing this I’ve noticed I’m even more relaxed while on vacation. If you can’t take a day off during the week, arrange for your partner/spouse or family member to watch your kids so you can have a Saturday or Sunday to yourself. If a week long vacation is not possible, a overnight hotel stay or a weekend staycation can be just as beneficial. Check out Groupon, Living Social or Hotels.com for affordable hotel deals that wont wreak havoc on your wallet.
Remember if you don’t take care of yourself, how can you take care of others?
