TGIF all!
So according to Pantone purple is THE color for next Spring. Honestly whenever I think of purple I instantly think of Prince and the Purple Rain soundtrack. I was first introduced to Prince by my junior high school friend Samantha who was significantly cooler and worldlier than I was. She urged me to buy the “Purple Rain” soundtrack as I was too shy to do so. I remember popping the tape into my “boom box” (remember those?!) and getting my groove on. I thought I was so cool listening to Prince! As I was blasting “Darling Nikki” my mom stormed into my room yelling “Masturbating with a who?! Masturbating with a WHAT?!!!” and snatching my Purple Rain tape out of my boom box. It took me days to get that tape back as my mom (who was a devout Jehovah Witness) declared that Prince was a “sex freak” and forbade me him from ever listening to him. Of course this only made me love him more and I became even more of a fan as I delved deeper into his earlier work. So when Prince died in 2016, it was a huge blow to me because his music was such an integral part of my adolescent years. While I am sad about his passing, his music will forever be apart of my life.
Have a wonderful weekend!
