“If someone offers you an amazing opportunity and you’re not sure you can do it, say yes -then learn how to do it later”-Richard Branson
TGIF all!
Self doubt can be a mofo. It can leave for weeks and then suddenly reappear at the wrong time. This happened to me recently. Last week I received an email from Banana Republic inviting me to participate in their latest campaign. At first I was like “oh yeah!” but soon my excitement gave way to doubt. I doubted that I could participate because as a plus size woman, I couldn’t fit the majority of their clothing. Although I own several items of clothing from Banana Republic, my self-doubt had me feeling like I couldn’t participate. I also think I was a little intimidated about participating because this was my first time being approached by a non plus brand to be apart of a campaign. For a split second I thought about declining but something inside me said “nope!”. I pushed my doubt aside and explained to Banana Republic that while I don’t fit the majority of their clothes, I can fit their sweaters, wear their shoes, bags and accessories. I was pleasantly surprised that despite this, they picked me to be apart of the campaign. Overcoming my self-doubt was a big victory for me. I’m going to continue to work through my self doubt so I can take advantage of every opportunity comes my way.
If you too are struggling with self-doubt, know that you are not alone and that change is possible!
Have a wonderful weekend!
