Happy Monday all!
Hope everyone had a wonderful Mother’s Day yesterday!
1. Pink Lipstick
It’s fair to say I’m slightly obsessed with Lupita Nyong’o, so when I saw her rocking a pink lippy at the White House Correspondent’s Dinner, I knew I had to try it! Trust me pink lipstick is going REALLY outside my comfort zone. As a dark-skinned black woman, the message I’ve always got was don’t wear colors that make you stand out. It took me years to finally muster enough courage to wear red lipstick because of this “rule”. Now I love wearing red lipstick and could care less what someone might say. Now I’m ready to find the perfect pink lippy for me!
Over the past couple weeks, I’ve been making more a serious effort to eat healthier (I’ve lost 8 lbs so far!) In my efforts to find healthy snacks, I stumbled across Justin’s Chocolate Hazelnut Butter. Let me tell ya, this stuff is GOOD! It’s chunky, not overly sweet and great with fruit (especially apples!). While a jar of this yummy stuff is a whopping $12 (which I can’t bring myself to buy), the packets are more affordable…so give them a try!
I’ve been lusting after this Keds collaboration with Kate Spade for a year now. The $75 price tag is what is holding me back (I don’t believe in paying more than $40 for sneakers unless they are running shoes) but I love them so! I’m saving my coins so these beauties can eventually be mine!
4. Floral skirts
I’ve mentioned before how I used to be afraid of floral print. Since I no longer “fear” them, I’m always on the look out for a great floral skirt. This ASOS curve midi skirt fits the bill perfectly. It’s bright, flowy and feminine…all the things I love in a skirt!
5. Jeweliq Electric Zest Bib Necklace
Neon. Statement. Necklace. Nuff said!
Love all 5 points here. Congrats on your weight loss and yes, break the rules!

Excellent list! And congrats on the weight loss!

Thank you hon! 🙂
Congratulations on sticking to a healthy diet! The weight loss is secondary to being healthy, so kudos! And that necklace is awesome!!

Thank you! You are so right about weight loss being secondary. I notice I have more energy and I like the inches that are coming off my body!
You picked 5 winners! Congrats on the weight loss. I also had to break the “dark skinned women can’t wear this color, hips to big can’t wear that and on and on”. It took a while but I finally broke free of the lies. You go, Grown and Curvy Woman!!!

You go too for finally breaking free of the lies! There is so much freedom in not allowing rules to dictate how you want to look. Yay us!
Hey Ms. G, great list! I’m obsessed with Ms. Lupita too – such an inspiration in so many ways. I’ve been on hiatus from makeup so it might be time to dip my toe back in – you know how I like to copy you, LOL! And congrats on the health journey – me too! 23 pounds so far (in the last 12 months, slow and steady). It’s gonna be a great summer, right?!
