While scrolling through Pinterest last night, I came across GarnerStyle’s pin of this AMAZING Wilsons Leather faux leather jacket. I instantly went “whoa!” and put it on my Must Have list for the Fall. The jacket got me thinking about how far faux leather has come. They’re no longer grainy and cheap looking jackets. The jackets are now made with quality materials that mimic leather so much, you wont believe it’s faux. The new faux leather jackets are better constructed to fit the plus body so you can move around without feeling stiff. Better quality means a longer lasting jacket that can be worn year after year. The faux leather jacket I bought from Kohl’s last year is still in great condition and has no signs of wear.
Adding a faux leather jacket to any outfit instantly adds edge and polish to any outfit. Try it with a maxi dress or jeans to update your look. It’s one closet staple you’ll wont regret having!
Do you have a faux leather jacket? How do you wear it?
Over the weekend I agreed to participate in Nel’s (Girls of Plenty) challenge for plus size bloggers to interpret the Spring 2013 trends. Nel was inspired to start the challenge after reading an article from Bethany Rutter of Arched Eyebrow (read the article here). Each week during the month we will feature our take on various trends like florals, leather and emerald. I’m very excited to see how other plus size women will interpret the trends. The challenge is a great opportunity for us to showcase our individual style. The other bloggers participating in the challenge are Deb from Real Girl Runway, Vivi from Heart, Print and Style, the Curvy Ceo and Society of Curves. Check them out during the challenge to see their weekly take on the Spring trends.
Today’s challenge wasnt too hard because what woman doesn’t have black and white in her closet?! I decided to mix black and white prints together for my take on the trend. For some reason I really like the pairing of polka dots and stripes together. This is as far as I’ll probably go with the mixing print trend. I’m not very good at putting different prints together so I’ll just stick to what I know! :)
How would you interpret this trend? If you’re game I would love for you to join me in this challenge! If you would like to participate email your pics to firstname.lastname@example.org and you will be featured right along with us!
Here’s a little secret, being home sick for an extended period of time is BORING! There’s only so much Cooking Channel, DVRed TV shows and pay per view movies I can watch. I bet if you Google “couch potato” you’ll get an image of me! So today I decided to take action to stop my growing cabin fever. I put on this outfit to get me out of my PJ rut and went to the post office (which was a feat in itself due to the count that I’m still recuperating) to get some fresh air. I know that doesn’t sound incredibly exciting but it felt great to get out the house and wear clothes that don’t have elastic in them!
I was feeling rather “Foxy Brown”-ish in my black turtle neck, leopard print skirt and faux leather jacket today. I was born in 1972 so I guess I unconsciously channeled my birth era in my outfit! It also gave me the opportunity to wear my early Christmas gift from Tamera (the wonderful woman who takes my blog pictures!). I love my new chunky gold bead necklace! It was the perfect accessory for this outfit. Thank you Tamera!
On a sad note, my heart and prayers go out the the victims and their families in Newtown,CT. This is a horrible tragedy and I pray that God embraces them in this time of indescribable grief.

Happy Monday all! Hope you had a great weekend and turned those clocks back!
Like almost everybody I try to the get the most wear out of my clothing. Some of myclothes are interchangeable from season to season like this Adrianna Papell dress I’m wearing today. I first wore it in the Spring but always felt that the dress was more for the Fall. So when the weather cooled down I couldn’t wait to slap on some black tights and ankle boots with this dress. Instead of a black cardigan or blazer I opted for my faux leather Kohl’s jacket. As you can see I’m getting ALOT of usage out this jacket! Honestly I wear it about 3 times a week. The jacket has been my go to instead of wearing a black blazer or cardigan. I like how it adds just a little edge to my outfit.
How do you get the most wear out of your clothes?
Have a great evening!
