Take Care

Happy Monday all!

While the holidays are a festive time, it can be also overwhelming.  It is very easy to become overwhelmed with  shopping for Christmas gifts or preparing to host family for the holiday dinner.  If allowed to go unchecked, stress can transform you from Suzy Homemaker to the Grinch.  Practicing self care during the season can reduce your inner Grinch from ever seeing the light of day.  Here are a few tips on keeping yourself sane during the holidays.

  1. It’s okay to say “no”: you are not Superwoman, you can’t do it all.  Saying “no” doesn’t make you selfish or mean. You do not have to overextend yourself to the point of exhaustion because it’s the holidays.  Just say no.
  2. Take a time out: if you find yourself feeling stressed out, just stop. Take a step away and give yourself space to breathe and get your wits together.
  3. Schedule “me” time: your emotional health is important during the season, especially if you’re grieving the loss of a loved one.   Make sure to carve out time in your busy schedule for yourself.  Me time can be anything from reading a book or exercising.  Make sure you make yourself a priority too during the holidays.

What are some ways you keep sane during the holiday season?

Have a great day!

I have decided to cut back on the number of people that I give gifts too. I try to focus more on the reason for the season, and this illuminates a lot of the shopping stress. I also utilize online shopping to cut down on my stress.
