Weekend Edition: My Life on Instagram

Happy Monday all!

I hope everyone had a great weekend! I’m still adjusting to life without my laptop. I never considered myself to be someone who is dependent on a computer but this situation has proven me wrong!  While my laptop is being repaired,  I’ve decided not to let it stop me from posting .  While I can’t post an outfit, I can share with you some of my Instagram pics!  If you are Instagram follow me at grownandcurvywoman.  Hope to see you there!

Have a great day!

Casual Friday/Feel Good Day

TGIF everyone!

There once was a time I believed that plus size women should never wear printed clothing. I thought wearing prints would draw too much attention to my body which would then “invite” negative comments or reactions. So instead of thumbing my nose at those assholes, I gave in and hid myself in the most frumpy clothes I could find. This bold, geometric print INC dress I’m wearing today (from Gwynnie Bee ) would have been a definite “no-no” back then. Thank GOD that Georgette no longer exists! If she did I would’ve missed out on this fab dress that looks GREAT on my voluptuous body. Now, I could give a rats ass about what people might think or say about what I’m wearing. All that matters to me is when you feel good, you look good!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Me & Gwynnie Bee

Happy Hump Day all!

Today my BFF invited me to a lecture given by actor Hill Harper (CSI:NY) at the university where she works.  Luckily I didn’t have to worry about what to wear because I received my Gwynnie Bee package yesterday.  In my package was a  geo print faux  wrap dress from INC (sold at Macy’s), so I decided to wear it to the lecture.  This is my second go around with Gwynnie Bee.  I initially subscribed to Gwynnie Bee back in December but decided to cancel my subscription due to my dissatisfaction with the clothing .  After receiving an email from Gwynnie Bee  offering another subscription trial, I decided to try again.

The wonderful thing about Gwynnie Bee is that you have access to all kinds of clothing from various different brands.   I had my eye on this INC dress for a while and when I saw it on Gwynnie Bee’s site I scooped it up.   It’s clear the dress is made for the Spring because the fabric is thin and light. The dress was too big at the top so to avoid  my bra being exposed,  I wore a black tank underneath.  The A line skirt flows and doesn’t cling to your lower half.  The geo print is very trendy and stylish but  appropriate for the workplace.

If you like having a huge wardrobe of clothing at your disposal then definitely head over to Gwynnie Bee!

Have a wonderful evening!

P.S. I want to thank my handsome 12yr old godson for taking my pictures today!

Days Go On and On….

Happy Hump Day all!

Here’s a little secret, being home sick for an extended period of time is BORING!  There’s only so much Cooking Channel, DVRed TV shows and pay per view movies I can watch. I bet if you  Google “couch potato”  you’ll  get an image of me!   So today I decided to take action to stop my growing cabin fever. I put on this outfit to get me out of my PJ rut and  went to the post office (which was a feat in itself due to the count that I’m still recuperating) to get some fresh air. I know that doesn’t sound incredibly exciting but it felt great to get out the house  and wear clothes that don’t have elastic in them!

Have a wonderful evening!

Sip Swap & Shop

Hey everyone!

Last Saturday I attended the Philadelphia Style Bloggers’s (which I am a member of) Sip Swap and Shop at the Wardrobe Boutique.  The event was also PSB  first birthday party for our group! PSB’s president, Karima of Skinny Minority graciously invited me to be on their panel of bloggers to give style and shopping advice to the attendees.   I was so excited to be apart of this because it was my first time being on a panel as a blogger.   Also on the panel was Karima,  Jessie of Trend Hungry and Mecca of Styled Out Loud.

The event was a great opportunity for me to speak with women about cultivating their own style. I wanted them to know that style has no age or size.   I was also great to see the beautiful Nel of Girls of Plenty who came from Washington DC (with her fab friends)  to show us some love. My friends Tawanda and Tamera came out to support the event and scored some GREAT bargains.  I had such a great time at this event and look forward to more!
