Casual Friday: Dressed Up Denim

TGIF all!

I’m giving my pencil skirts a break and trying out new silhouettes to keep things fresh.  Sometimes I get stuck and need to branch out so I decided to dress up my full denim skirt today.  I kept things simple with my denim on denim ensemble and added some leopard print for a nice contrast.  This outfit shows you can wear denim to work and still look appropriate for the office.

Are you a fan of denim on denim?

Have a wonderful weekend!

Winter White

Happy Hump Day all!

I’ve always liked winter white on other people but never considered wearing it for myself.  After seeing the lovely LuAnne from Weesha’s World rock this skirt, I decided to take the plunge and get it in cream. The skirt is from ASOS main range (aka “straight size”) but the size 14 band has so much stretch it comfortably fits my size 18 waist.  Initially I was skeptical wearing a full skirt but all of those concerns went out of the window when I put it on.  Sometimes you just gotta put yourself out there and see if something will work.  I’m glad I decided to go outside my comfort zone and get the skirt.

Would you wear winter white?

P.S. I just found out the skirt now comes in FIVE colors, so if cream isn’t for you I’m sure there are other colors that you’ll like!

Have a wonderful day!

Shining Through

Happy Hump Day all!

Sorry I’ve been a little MIA these past two weeks.  I’ve been going through some personal issues that honestly I had been ignoring for years. It’s very easy to put up a facade of being okay when things are not okay. What I’ve learned over  the past couple of weeks is that taking care of oneself emotionally is just as important as taking care of yourself physically.  You can’t ignore one and concentrate on the other, you have to take care of the whole package.  At this point in my life I’m learning how to take care of the whole package. Lemme tell ya it aint easy but I’m determined to work through my “stuff” with the appropriate supports.  I’m blessed with a wonderful support system that surrounds me and accepts me for who I am which makes  my journey  a little easier.

With all that said, blogging is something I love doing and will continue to do so.  Blogging has given me so much and to abandon it is not an option.  I will do my best to keep my blogging schedule up but if I slip here and there, dont be alarmed…Im not going anywhere!

Have a wonderful day!

Casual Friday: Work In Progress

TGIF all!

I gotta be honest, I’m not feeling my outfit today. Being casual is always a struggle for me because I’m so used to dressing up everyday. Does this sound silly? I’ve seen other women (such as my new blogger crush Curves and Curls) with amazing casual style but I just cant do it! Gimme a pencil skirt and some kitten heels and I’m good to go. Give me a pair of jeans and shirt and I’m at a loss. Go figure!

Nevertheless, I’m committed to improving my casual style. If any of you have any tips please feel free to share!

Have a great weekend!
