Self Care Tips for the Holidays

Happy Monday all!

As y’all know I am a HUGE advocate of self care. In my opinion self care is the best care. During the holidays it’s so easy to get caught up in the wants of others we put ourselves on the back burner.  Taking care of yourself during the holidays is just as important as celebrating the season.  Participating in self care can boost your morale and allow you to engage in the season with less stress.  Self care can take on several different forms.  Here are a few self care tips for the holiday season:

  1. Carve out “me” time: Plan an hour or a day of doing something you like. Catch up on that book you’ve been meaning to read.  Binge watch that Netflix or Amazon series your friends recommended to you.
  2. Learn to say “no”:  It’s okay to say “no” during the holidays. Saying no establishes boundaries so you don’t get burned out or become overwhelmed.
  3. Create & stick to a budget: There is nothing wrong with acknowledging your financial limitations. You’ll feel a sense of accomplishment when you’re able to complete your shopping list without breaking the bank.

What are some of your self care tips for the holiday season?

Have a wonderful day!

The Reset

Happy Wednesday all!

First off I want to thank each and every one of you for continuing to follow my blog.  I’ve been AWOL for awhile but now I’m BAAAAACK!  I apologize for my abrupt leave of absence.  To be honest being quarantined by myself and working from home really did a number on me emotionally.  For months I struggled with depression, isolation and loneliness.  Unfortunately my blog was one of the causalities of my depression.  Luckily with the help of my therapist I’ve been processing my emotions in a more healthy fashion.  I still have emotional struggles but they aren’t as severe as the beginning of quarantine. I miss my old social life and can’t wait until it returns.  I miss traveling to different countries and experiencing cultures. Before I would try to suppress these feelings but I’ve since learned that it’s okay to miss my previous life.  I know that one day things will go back to “normal” and I will get my social life back. Until that happens I’m learning to adapt to the “new normal” and keep my head up.

How have y’all been dealing with the “new normal”?  What are some of the things you’ve learned about yourself during the pandemic?

Have a wonderful evening!

Thanksgiving At Home With Lane Bryant

Happy Hump Day all!

Anyone who knows me knows I LOVE Thanksgiving! Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday because I get to spend the day eating, laughing  and reveling in my family’s company.  It is truly one of the highlights of my year. Unfortunately due to the recent COVID spikes we’ve decided postpone our annual Thanksgiving dinner.  While it was painful to make this decision staying safe took priority over getting together. Many of our family members (including myself) have medical issues that make us vulnerable to COVID.  So instead of hanging out in person, we’ve decided to connect via Zoom this year.

While I’m completely bummed about the situation, I’m not going let stop me from getting dressed up for our Thanksgiving Zoom!  Nothing says happy holidays than sequins.  Lane Bryant completely hit it out the park with this pencil sequin skirt.  It’s so comfy you can also wear it during the day.  By pairing it with this striped cardigan and camisole transforms the skirt & makes it less intimidating. I’m confident that I will be the best dressed for our Zoom call! LOL

I hope everyone has a wonderful and safe Thanksgiving!

Have a great day!

Fall Staples With Lane Bryant!

Happy Tuesday all!

I can’t tell you how happy I am that Fall is finally here. Next to Spring, Fall is my favorite time of the year. Fall fashion is definitely one of the reasons why I love the season so much.  I love layering pieces together to get comfortable looks. This Fall is significantly different due to COVID 19.  I’m still working from home but that hasn’t stopped me from still dressing up for my daily on line meetings. That’s where   Lane Bryant  comes in.  They have always been my go to for Fall staples. I know I can rely on Lane Bryant for quality items like these skinny jeans & peasant top I’m wearing in this post. These pieces will help me continue to look presentable for my Zoom meetings!

Have a wonderful day!

Summer Social With Catherines

TGIF all!

Now that Summer is in full swing I’ve been finding safe ways to enjoy the season.  COVID 19 has made my usual Summer activities obsolete but I’m determined not to let it cancel my social life.  On my list of things to do is spending time in outdoor parks and gardens. Philadelphia has wonderful venues such as the Japanese House & Garden and Bartram Gardens that allow social distancing and require wearing a mask.  Spending time outdoors makes me happy and breaks up the monotony of working from home everyday.  As I spend more time outside I tend to gravitate towards sleeveless cotton dresses that allow me to move freely and stay cool.  As y’all know Catherines definitely has Summer dresses that fit this description perfectly.  This red maxi dress  is my favorite because I absolutely love the color and versatility of it. Now when spend time outdoors I can do it safely, confidently and of course stylishly!

Have a wonderful weekend!
