So today I decided to try something different by wearing all polka dots. When I got to work, my co-worker innocently said “Oh Minnie Mouse!” At first I was like “huh?” because I know I don’t resemble a mouse! Then it dawned on me she was talking about Minnie’s iconic polka dot red dress. I chuckled with her and nodded my head. I have nothing but love for Minnie Mouse . Shes a colorful, fun and confident gal. Heck she was color blocking way before we were! Her style is unfussy and classic, sort of like me! So here’s to Minnie!
Today is my first day back at work after being on vacation for a week. I always struggle with transitioning back into work mode after a great vacation . I walk around the office pouting and procrastinate going through email from the previous week. I sit at my desk and daydream about my vacation and begin plotting my next getaway.
Getting up this morning was a small feat because I wanted to stay in bed so badly! I knew if called out I would only be delaying the inevitable. So I forced myself to ignore the urge to call out and headed into the office. I kept my outfit simple by pairing my yellow pencil skirt with my newly acquired black & white striped top. Ive always liked the combo of yellow and black together. I figured a pop of color would help lift my back to work blues.
How do you get back into “work mode” after a vacation?
Happy Saturday everyone! Hope your weekend is going great so far.
Vacationing in Ocean City, MD with my friends is one of the highlights of my summer. We spend our days hanging out at the beach, soaking up sun at the pool and strolling on the boardwalk eating funnel cake. It’s a welcomed break from work and the seriousness of life. Plus it gives me the opportunity to reconnect with my friends and have a great time. I’m always sad when it ends but I look forward to doing it all over again next year!
Leather has always been a Fall/Winter staple but this year it’s everywhere from panels in trench coats to skirts. Here are a few pieces that you can easily incorporate into your wardrobe. Leather jackets are great because you can wear it with pants or dresses. If leather jackets are not your speed, why not a leather skirt with a pretty blouse? Leather is a good way to add polish and edge to your outfit. Give it a try to see how you feel, you might just like how you look!
This is what I wore on Saturday. I knew I was going to out for the entire day (I didn’t get home until after 12am!) so I wanted to be comfortable yet chic. I’m wearing a Talbots Woman pencil skirt in my favorite color (red), Old Navy denim shirt and sliver jewelry. I wore flat thong sandals and I’m so glad I did! If you plan to attend next year, leave the heels at home!
After a long day of conferencing, it was time to let our hair hang down and have a good time! BlogHer had its first fashion show featuring many well-known bloggers gorgeously dressed. Everyone looked amazing and strutted their stuff down the runway. The show was inclusive featuring women of different sizes, races and abilities.
I also got to take a picture with a very well known (well at least to your kids!) celebrity! He was very warm and fuzzy!
I had to take a picture of Danyelle . Her outfit was so colorful and fun. Plus she was so sweet when I asked to take her picture.
For me the highlight of the day was meeting fabulous women from various parts of the country. I was fortunate to have met Michelle , Karla , Erica and Lea (a fellow SUNY Binghamton alumna). Not only were these ladies beautiful but they were funny as hell! They kept me laughing all night long, making my conference experience even better!
Although I was exhausted when I made it back to my sister’s house, I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Blogher2013 is going to be in Chicago next July, will I see you there?
