Casual Friday: Ode To The Maxi

TGIF all!

While I’m a fan of  maxi dresses, I only own two of them (yikes!). I guess the reason why I own so few is because maxi dresses can be tricky for me.   The maxi’s I’ve tried on are either too long or hit me above the ankle.  Also some of the print on these dresses (especially the plus size ones) can be really garish. I like maxi dresses that come in bold, interesting prints that don’t need a lot of accessorizing.   This way the dress is the center of attention and only a pair of earrings or bracelet is needed to complete the outfit.  So it’s a real treat for me when I find a maxi that encompasses all my wants.  This maxi dress will be on heavy rotation this upcoming season and it’s going with me to Dubai later this month.  I have this elaborate fantasy  of wearing this dress while traversing through the desert at dusk (obviously I’ve watched “Sex In The City Part 2” waaay too much! LOL)

Are you a fan of the maxi?  If so, what brand would you recommend for a good  maxi dress?

Have a wonderful weekend!

I am tall also and have found some nice maxi dresses at Macy’s, The Avenue and Lane Bryant. I don’t know how it happened, but now I have quite a few.

That dress is adorable on you! I would’ve been afraid to try it.

Fantastic dress on you, you look gorgeous! I love maxi dresses and have a few from Chico’s (they go up to size 22 US), love their bold prints and bright colors. I also love eShakti – you can make practically any dress you like into a maxi dress with them. I have a few jersey maxi dresses from Old Navy which are surprisingly well made. I haven’t tried Kiyonna or IGIGI maxi dresses yet, but they seem to be a good option. I’d love to get more ideas from your readers. 🙂

I absolutely adore Rachel Pally White Label . . . they can be a blank canvas for your style. Others are a statement to themselves. I get compliments every time I wear one. Kind of pricey but I am wearing the ones I purchased three years ago and still get compliments.

I too love this dress. I prefer maxi skirts over dresses. More versatile for me. Switch out the top and shoes for endless outfits. And I find it easier to find the right length with the skirt.

You look so elegant in this! I am not so lucky with maxis…as you say, most are wayyy too long for me, and I really want to wear them w flats, so…I’ve never met a maxi that liked me. But I’ll keep looking!
