Channeling My Inner Solange

TGIF all!

Along with Michelle Obama and Lupita Nyong’o,  Solange is my one of my style icons.  Her use of color is exciting and vibrant. While she is a superstar, her style still manages to come off as approachable and authentic.  I’ve been wanting to do a Solange inspired post for a while but I haven’t gotten around to until now.  My outfit today is my spin on one of my favorite Solange ensembles.  She wore this outfit  during NYFW a few seasons ago and ever since then I’ve been smitten with it.  Who could resist monochrome with a pop of color?!

Who are some of your style heroes?

Have a wonderful weekend!

Love this look! Solange is my FAVORITE style maven! This looks so good on you! Great posts Georgette, as always!

Looove the yellow coat, this is a great take on Solange’s outfit! I don’t have a style icon, pretty much I keep my eyes open for interesting garments on the people around me and sketch them out — sometimes I copy them, sometimes I transfer the details, sometimes I just keep the sketch and do nothing. I do like JLo’s style, but it’s never even occurred to me to riff off her looks, hmmm!

The pops of color really make this outfit fun and interesting. And I agree, Solange owns her style and rocks it!!

This is such a fabulous colour combination! And not just the blue/yellow/pink explosion…in my opinion you’ve chosen beautiful tints of each of these colours! I love that shade of yellow!

honestly? you did it better! solange used exactly 2 pieces (blue coat&bag/orange pants&top/pink shoes&lips) in every color…. – but your 3-2-1 rhythm is genius!!!

I love the blue and yellow combination, but I think the hot pink shoes really make this outfit! I like the way you were inspired by Solange’s outfit but made the monochromatic look your own.
