Off Duty Style: Chic Layers

TGIF all!

I’ve always considered November as the beginning of layering season. The weather in September and October is too mild for multiple layers but once November hits, all bets are off.  Layering as plus size woman can be tricky because I  don’t want to add bulk. I’ve  completely given up at layering a shirt under a sweater. I can never get it right and I end up feeling like a stuffed turkey!  So since I have no option but to wear layers, I’ve turned to  cardigans to fit my needs.  I’ve been wearing them with a t-shirts, button ups and turtlenecks for added warmth without the bulk. It goes without saying, cardigans are super versatile and can be easily incorporated into your lifestyle.  To have more of a variety when shopping for cardigans, look for oversize, wrap and wide cut “straight” styles as they are very plus friendly. This wide cut cardigan from H&M is an M/L but fits my 18/20 frame quite comfortably.

What are some of your layering tricks during the late Fall/Winter?

Have a wonderful weekend!

Thanks for doing a jeans outfit! Do like cardigans. Seen some really cute ones…..I think at Nordstroms and Deb plus depts! I live in the south so layers are needed unfortunately…..

You are welcomed! I love cardigans. They make layering so easy to do!

Also wanted to add that I add like anorak jackets, jean jackets and blazers! Just add scarfs and jewelry and the look is complete!

I hear you on the feeling stuffed. And that’s why I hate jackets – they’re too confining. I’ve discovered scarves and shawls are perfect when all you need is something across the shoulders to take the chill off. I have sweaters – light cotton ones that I might wear over a cami – it’s too constricting to wear them over even a t-shirt. But there aren’t many times I need anything more than either a t-shirt or a long-sleeve blouse or a blouse over a t-shirt. 😀

I need to live in your neck of the woods! I would love to just layer a t-shirt under a long sleeve shirt to keep warm! We need the heavy duty layers here in the Northeast! LOL

I remember living in Vermont the year we had a blizzard on Mother’s Day. And I remember car tires frozen to the ground at 2 in the afternoon. Which is why I live in Arizona now. 😀

I would swap out the jeans for a skirt or slacks and it is a nice casual work outfit as well!
