Change Is Gonna Come

Happy Hump Day all!

New York Fashion Week has never been known for being plus friendly but there are tiny signs of change.  Plus size models such as Denise Bidot walked in  Chromat and Zana Bayne shows last week , plus size labels PLY Apparel and Carmakoma both used NYFW as a backdrop to showcase their Spring/Summer 2015 collections.  I was fortunate to attend both these events and I was extremely impressed with the collections.  While the fashion industry still has a  long way to go in regards to plus size fashion, the hope is that change is  coming!

PLY Apparel:

PLY Apparel is a luxury plus size line whose motto “because you deserve better” gives the upscale  customer enviable clothing.   PLY creators Lamarr and Pamela Nanton  elegant collection definitely reflects their brand and motto.  The pieces in their Spring/Summer 2015 collection were soft, structured and highly feminine.   I felt the collection had a  cohesive theme and point of view.  It’s clear the designers know their customer base and the clothes reflect that. The price point is between $500-$2,000 which to some is out of their price range but if you are looking for quality investment pieces, then PLY is for you!

What I wore for the presentation:

curvy women, curvy girls, curvy, plus size clothing, african print skirt, midi skirt, off the shoulder tops, plus size fashion, old navy, eloquii, white skirts, plus size skirts, converse, chuck taylor all stars, wearing sneakers with a skirt, prints, statement tee shirts, old navy, aldo, color blocking, plus size bloggers, plus size blogs, 40+ blogs, 40+ bloggers, fat blogs, fat bloggersBlouse: New Look (here)

I also got to hang out with my blogger boos Sheri from Shapely Chic Sheri and Sandra from Lapecosa Preciosa.  I had such an AWESOME time with these ladies!

Carmakoma:

Carmakoma is a Danish plus size clothing line that wants “…to create clothes that make a difference to the individual, regardless of size…”  It’s creators Heidie and Angelica have definitely achieved their goal with their Spring/Summer 2015 collection.  I was extremely impressed with their willingness to come to the States to present their work. The clothing was on trend,  edgy yet feminine.  Regardless of age, there was something for everyone  in the collection.  I had so many favorite pieces, I lost count!

What I wore to the Carmakoma event. I was all about being comfy!

Have a wonderful day!

It’s great to see plus size designers getting coverage. I wonder what is considered “plus size” in the fashion world these days? It used to be anything over a 12, but that might have changed since the average American woman has changed.
