30 Plus Style:Celebrity Inspired Plus Edition

TGIF all!

Welcome to the latest 30 Plus Style collaboration!  As the title states, our outfits today are inspired by our favorite celebrity.  For this 30 Plus Style installment,  I didn’t even have to think twice about the celebrity who inspires my style. Ever since Michelle Obama stood by her husband’s side as he announced his candidacy back in 2007 I’ve been hooked. Her classic, effortless style has impacted the way I dress and carry myself. My friends will joke that I’m  “getting my Michelle Obama on” if I wear something similar to her. So when deciding what to wear today, I went to Michelle’s signature pencil skirt and kitten heel combo (our love for skirts make us kindred spirits! lol).  I’d like to think she would wear this outfit on a special dinner date with Barack . Whaddya think?

Please check out the other lovely ladies of 30 Plus Style to see which celebrity inspired their look today!

You look great! Don’t wait for a man, go out and have your own date night — you never know who you might meet along the way. 🙂 Also, thanks for the link to this ruffle top. It’s a new trend I’ve been wanting to jump on, now I can try this New Look Inspire/ASOS top.

Just wondering what size you got the top in. I’ve never shopped from this site before and wondering how the sizing runs.

    • August 6, 2014 / 4:36 pm

I got it in an 18 and it was very big. I say size down b/c UK sizing can be bigger.

I also love and admire Michelle Obama’s style: so polished, ladylike, and still infused with a bit of flair. I think you’ve done a great job recreating the mix of sophisticated and glitz of her outfit while also putting your own spin on it. The off-the-shoulder top is such a surprise, and that skirt is a real stunner! You look beautiful!
