Full Figure Fashion Week 2014

Happy Tuesday all!

Every June I look forward to attending Full Figure Fashion Week in NYC.  It’s a whirlwind week showcasing plus size fashion for all the world to see.   So once I heard this year would be the last Full Figure Fashion week, there was no way I was going to miss the finale! Full Figure Fashion Week will always be special to me because it was the plus size first event I ever attended.  I remember being nervous and excited because I was new to blogging at the time.  Attending Full Figure Fashion Week helped me grow as person and as a blogger. Being surrounded by confident and beautiful plus size women has inspired me in so many ways.   I want to thank Full Figure Fashion Week creator Gwen DeVoe for all her hard work and sacrifice putting on an amazing showcase for the past six years that continues to challenge all negative stereotypes of plus size women and fashion!

ModaMix Blogger Event:

One of the best things about attending Full Figure Fashion Week is being exposed to new plus size designers.  This year ModaMix Fashion graciously invited me to their blogger event.  I was eager to see what they offered and let me tell ya, I was extremely impressed with their collection.  I loved the entire collection because it had something for EVERYONE.    There were pencil skirts, printed moto jackets and structured dresses that can easily transition to work.  The collection is available both online and in Macy’s stores which is a plus so you can try the items on whenever you want!

Also at the ModaMix event were my FAVORITE blogger buddies Sandra from LaPecosa Preciosa, Sheri from Shapely Chic Sheri, Farrah from Estrella Fashion Report and Sarah from Curvily.  I had such a great time hanging with these ladies!   I also got to meet one of my blogging sheroes Chasity from GarnerStyle.  Along with GabiFresh and the Curvy Fashionista, she helped give me the confidence to start my own blog. It was awesome to finally to have met her in person! I also go to meet my Instagram crush Jo from Clothes Minded. She was so sweet and looked FAB!!!

Eloquii + Redbook Magazine Private Shopping Event:

When Eloquii closed it’s doors last year, I was one of the many women sad to see them go.  So when I heard they were coming back I was ecstatic!  Not only have they come back, they’ve come back strong!  Even though their collection on trend there is still something for everybody.   Take their yellow midi skirt I wore for the day. A 40, 50 or 60-year-old woman could easily rock this skirt!   The shape is timeless and can be worn for work and play.  And from what I saw at the event, more good things are coming down the pike!

Indie Designer Fashion Show:

To top off my awesome day I had the pleasure of attending the Indie Designer Show. The show gave me the opportunity to see up and coming plus size designers pull out ALL the stops.  The collections were nothing short of amazing but this creation from Eyani Couture gave me LIFE!!! I nearly fell out of my chair when I saw this gorgeous outfit.  This is proof that plus size clothing can be elegant and beautiful, not boring and ugly!

Doesn’t that suck when something you adore comes to an end. You are looking gorgeous, as always, and I just adore that bright yellow on you! I hate wearing yellow and have next to no yellow in my wardrobe – because when I was going through school from grades one to twelve my school uniform was yellow, then the company I worked for for six or seven years also had a yellow uniform! It kinda turned me off a bit, but wow. You look fantastic!
