The Long and the Short of It

Happy Hump Day all!

For some of us the idea of wearing shorts can produce  anxiety about being exposed in the Summer.  Many shrug it off and others just avoid them all together. I used to be in the latter category.  For the majority of my adult life I wouldn’t wear shorts  because I thought I was too fat.  Summer after Summer I would hide my legs in crops and capri pants.   Then one sweltering  Summer day  I said “forget this s**t!”, bought a pair of bermuda shorts and never looked back.

Now that  plus size short options have improved greatly, there’s no need to shy away from wearing them.  There are an array of lengths to choose from.  You can opt for an above or below the knee style (I’m a fan of Talbots 11 inch bermuda shorts) or if  you feel like showing off  your fabulous legs, there are shorter lengths to accommodate you.  The point here is that there is something for everyone .  So if  you’re in the market for a pair of shorts this Summer, I’ve picked out some of my favorite pairs to get you started!

Have a wonderful day!

It’s amazing how your blazer and shorts make a suit! I thought it WAS a suit! You look wonderful, as always (you really do).And thank you for showing the selection of your fave shorts. I for some reason have never wore shorts, even in younger and slimmer years 🙂 – only for playing tennis… I might reconsider. xxx

Thank you! I hope you do reconsider. There are so many options out there to suit your taste. 🙂

Shorts and t-shirts is my summer ‘uniform’. I like shorter shorts, above the knee for sure. And sandals.

I really like your Summer uniform! Sounds so comfy and fun!

You are so brave! I haven’t worn shorts in 20 years, after getting ridiculed by my peers …. I was thin then, but harsh words are harsh words, and can really stick with you. I’m thinking of making culottes this summer, but that’s as close to shorts as I feel comfortable going.

You, however, look great! Love the blue “suit”, and the spunky little crop top underneath. And the heels! You’re wearing proper heels again. 🙂 I think your flats are getting jealous, but I think you look fabulous with the extra height.

I totally understand where youre coming from. After being called “thunder thighs” as a teen, I stopped wearing shorts after college. You are so right when you say those harsh words can stick with you BUT they cant break you! I hope maybe after feeling comfortable with culottes you might feel comfortable wearing capris! 🙂

My flats are very secure in our relationship. They know Ill always come back to them! LOL
