Bathing Beauty

Happy Monday all!

Bathing suit season is quickly approaching which can cause anxiety for some of us ladies.   For many years I would avoid wearing a bathing suit and when I did, I would only wear a suit with a skirted bottom. I honestly thought the skirt was hiding my thick thighs and bodacious booty (it wasn’t lemme tell ya! LOL)   So while on my cruise last August, I decided to throw caution to the wind and go without a skirted bottom.  This was the first time I had ever conjured up the nerve to venture out without a skirted bottom. At first I was scared because my security skirt/blanket was gone but after  a while I completely forgot about it.  After that I decided to never go back to a skirted bottom.  Uncovering my lower half was another step in accepting my body, thick hips and all!

Now that I’ve “liberated” my hips (lol), I’m looking  for new swim suit for the Summer. Plus size swim wear has come such a long way.  Now there are chic, trendy choices for suits that still provide coverage and support.  There are now bathing suits with fun prints and bold colors to reflect your personality.  Below are a sample of some of the fantastic options out there.  Which one is your favorite?

Have a wonderful day!

Good for you for freeing your hips 🙂 I must say that plussize swimwear is definitely stepping up their game. Every season I see a couple of options I want. I’m loving the blue/yellow Monif C suit.

Great beach pics! I agree, skirts are out but I do like sarongs, they’re so breezy. My fav here is the blue and yellow one.

Sarongs are good too! I like tying one around my suit when Im lounging around the pool.

I can see you in that blue/yellow suit. You would look amazing. I still have to stick with the skirted/or sarong suit. I’m much softer (in my early 70’s); if you see any, please post too. Enjoy your site very much, Philly Girl 42.

That first one! I love animal print, and I used to have a snakeskin print one-piece but sadly I have no idea where it went. I really like the support that bra-sized bikini tops have, and sometimes I will wear one under a one-piece. If I could find a reasonably priced bra-sized one piece, that would be fantastic.

I bought a swim bra last year and lemme ya it has saved my life! You can find it here. It’s pricey BUT it provides AMAZING support under your bathing suit!

You hit the nail right on the head, the freedom to choose! Something plus size women for years didnt have when it comes to bathing suits.

I just had to respond to the bathing suit thing……I finally found swimsuits I do not feel as self conscious in…surfboard shorts that women who surf wear! It is great thigh coverage probably 11″ long. Unbelievable size and print selection. I did have to match from other places tankini tops to go with it but it has truly freed me!
