Casual Friday: Spring Renewal

TGIF all!

Winter is FINALLY outta here! Woo hoo! Although the temps aren’t Spring-like yet, I’m just grateful it’s here!

This year the arrival of Spring has a lot of meaning for me.  In my post   Shining Through, I touched on some of the emotional issues I’ve been dealing with.  Besides my family and close friends, no one knew that behind my smile I was dealing with crippling anxiety and depression. Knowing I didn’t want to live like that anymore, I made the decision to  seek help to address my “stuff”.   Since the season is all about renewal and change, the growth I’m experiencing is sort of a Spring cleaning of the soul.  I’m learning how to let go  of fear, resentment and anger which is helping me change my perspective on life.  I’m renewing my self-confidence and resiliency that were temporarily interrupted.  Making change is HARD but I know I’m blessed and fortunate to see another Spring!

What does the arrival of Spring mean to you?

Have a wonderful weekend!

Anxiety and depression are no stranger to me either. It’s hard, but I am learning to keep finding ways to be grateful, encouraging myself to be brave and to grow, and most importantly I’m learning how to bring joy into my life. I’m so glad you are starting to feel better!

This outfit is too cute! Now I need to go shopping for spring clothes. : )

I think you rock! I follow you on this because I think you have such style. Good for you addressing your issues – may you get through all of that and come out smiling on the other side (you will).

That shirt belongs in my closet! And I love that you paired it with a yellow skirt instead of going with one of the obvious colors in the shirt. Great job!!

You’re looking fab! Great set of pins and a lovely hairdo. What happened to the mohawkesque style? You growing that one out?

Good for you! It is so hard to work on your inner “stuff” — I’m doing the same thing (in roughly the same time period, too!) — and it’s a butt kicker. Spring is so good for the soul, best wishes to you and continued progress on your self.

Your outfit is perfect and you look…different somehow. Fantastic as always, and different in a good way. Best to you.

1st. LOVE the outfit!!! I was just telling a friend that therapy brings you to feel a naked truth you may have never experienced before and although it may be hard and painful it has been the best experience for me. Dont be afraid to try out a few therapist before you settle with someone.

Thank you so much! I completely agree that therapy is painful but it helps shapes you into the person you want to be! Ive been so lucky to found a therapist who makes me feel comfortable and safe.

Thank you so much! It was a hard decision because I was in denial that I needed help but once I stopped being prideful, it was the best decision Ive ever made!

You look Great and Happy. Funny how we as women learn how to camouflage our innermost feelings. You are a treasured Gift!

Thank you so much! You are so right about women camouflaging our innermost feelings…especially black women. We need ppl to see us as strong but admitting your issues is apart of being strong too.

You are brave and beautiful. I wish you only the very best, from all my heart. We all have things which we have to work with, if we are willing to grow. And you are willing to grow, and it is the most amazing thing. All will be well with you!
I love this outfit, love these photos. You are new here. Color combo is wonderful, as always.
    Hugs!

Thank you so much! I was scared at first to write this post because its so personal to me. But I really admire and respect my readers, so being transparent is really important to me.

Nashville weather is messing with me. It ain’t right. This weekend was gorgeous. High 60’s, walks around downtown, dresses and skirts. Life was peachy. Now there’s a cold front moving in, and I’m in a sweater and jeans. Come ON! I am so done with pants and coats. Get it together! lol As usual, gorgeous look! It’s nice to see you in more and more pastels! The yellow skirt really sings against the dusty blue sweater.
