Oh, the Places You Will Go!

Happy Hump Day all!

When I was 15yrs old, my mom began to travel with groups of her friends.  This was a big deal for my mom because she always talked about wanting to see the world outside of the Bronx.  I remember how wide-eyed with excitement  she would be when she would travel. Fortunately for me I  have inherited her love of travel. For years I was scared to go away because I had convinced myself I was too big for the airplane seat. After years of denying my wanderlust, I took a giant leap and traveled to the Summer Olympics in 1996. It would take me a few more years (and a better income!) for me to travel like I wanted but now it’s one of the things I absolutely love to do!

I’m happy to say I’ve completed my first travel to do list! Yay! Now that my list is completed, I made a new list exotic places to visit. My goal is to visit these amazing places before my 50th birthday.

1. Sydney
2. Paris
3. Dubai
4. Beijing
5. Johannesburg
6. St.Lucia
7. Belize
8. Barcelona

Hopefully I’ll be able to knock  either Paris or Beijing off my list later this year (keep your fingers crossed for me!).

What places are on your travel “to do” list?

Have a wonderful day!

Wow! You look like you’ve been to a lot of places….good for you! I, too, have the wanderlust, and fortunately now that I’m retired and I have the time. My next trip will be Ireland and Tanganyika, with a trip to San Francisco and Idaho thrown in for good measure.

I grew up in Johannesburg. It’s an awesome city. Make sure you go to Cape Town too when you visit South Africa. I really want to go to Rio, Amsterdam, Tallin, Kiev, Rekjavic and Tokyo.

Viva la Belize!! I love my home country and traveling all over is rather cheap! Except for the plane ticket unless you catch a great sale.

Ive been trying to plan a trip to Belize for awhile now but the airfare sucks! My cousin’s BF is from Belize and talks about his country all the time. I cant wait to go!

Great list, and I see you’ve already been travelling a bit. Good for you!

I’ve been to Sydney (on my go-back-list), Paris, Barcelona (on the go-back-list) and South Africa (also on the go-back-list). Dubai I’m skipping until they get better laws for a lesbian couple.

On my current list is the Alps (this summer hopefully), Krakow (also this summer), Prague, Stockholm (maybe this summer), Iceland, more of Great Britain, New England, Florida, Tanzania, Kenya, Madagascar, New Zealand, Australia, Yellowstone (for the third time, I can’t get enough), Italy, Vienna, Canada (this time closer to Toronto), Ireland, Portugal (again), Yucatán Peninsula, Ireland, China and basically most places in the world where I can be who I am.

I absolutely LOVE your “go back” list! You are so well traveled! Kenya sounds so wonderful! I might have to add that to my new list! 😉

How great that you’ve completed your first travel list and are on to new and exciting places! Right now I’m obsessed with getting to Scotland. I feel like Nessie would make an appearance for me. It’s going to happen. lol

A visit to London and a tour of France are also on my list. Greece would be spectacular, too. What really gets me excited to travel to new places are shows like Anthony Bourdain’s “No Reservations.” My husband and I are total foodies and pick destinations based on their cuisines, and his show introduces you to the culture, landmarks, and cuisine of different regions. The more episodes I watch, the more places I want to travel to!

I totally agree with you! Shows like “No Reservations” (which I love!) make me want to travel everywhere! I wish I was a foodie though. My problem is I LOVE all kinds of food! LOL

I’ve never wanted to travel much, and our first BIG trip will be Disneyworld in a few years. 🙂
One of my favorite trips ever was to Philadelphia when I was teenager. I just loved all the history! Plus, we rode the ferry over to New Jersey to visit the aquarium, which was awesome!

I LOVE your list. I will visit Australia (and of course Sydney) this spring. But I really want to go back to Mexico (but that will be long flight form europe) – I loved the country. Next plans are also Marocco and Petra (Jordan), Poland and Chile. I love travelling to foreign countries. Have fun with your travels!

I am always very excited to read the blogs about your travel. i would like to do more traveling as well, but I do not know where to start. Could you do a blog about travel agent, specials, airfares and the like? Basically, the things you do when you are planning a trip.

    • January 19, 2014 / 7:18 pm

Thank you so much! I will definitely blog about this subject so stay tuned & thanks for the inspiration!

Well, I live three and a half hours from Sydney and you are always welcome to stay at my place in Canberra, our nation’s capital city, if you like. 🙂 I’m a great tour guide, too. lol.
