Casual Friday: Moto, Moto!

TGIF all!

As you have probably seen in the latest fashion magazines, leather motorcycle jackets are on trend for Fall.   It’s  funny how old standbys suddenly become a trend.  I mean when has leather NOT been appropriate for Fall and Winter?  I bet if you think about it, you’ve been rocking leather since you were a kid!  In college I saved enough money from my part-time job to finally get a leather jacket.  I remember instantly feeling like a bad ass when I slipped it on.  I would strut across campus to class in my jacket.   I wore that poor thing until it was coming apart at the seams!  Since then I havent come across a jacket that made me feel that way until now.     This ASOS Curve moto jacket (which I’ve been eyeing since last year)  makes me feel  cool and edgy (something plus size women  40+  are not supposed to feel!).    The jacket is very soft  not stiff so you don’t feel constricted.  It’s roomy enough that I can wear layers underneath once the temperature start to drop.   I plan on wearing it with everything because there is nothing more versatile than a black leather jacket.   I couldn’t wait until our mini heat wave ended yesterday so I could wear it today!

Are you going to hop on the  motorcycle jacket “trend”? If so, how would you wear it?

Have a wonderful weekend!

If you don’t mind me asking what size did you get? We are around the same size and I wasn’t sure how the jackets run with the Inspire line.

Hello! I got the jacket in an 18 and Im glad I did. ASOS Curve tends to cut generously but it fits my top perfectly with room to layer as the weather cools.

I like jackets of any kind that lay open at the neck. My faves are V cut but I can wear lapels. I don’t like things around my neck so the high cut necks are out for me. Too restricting. Often I find the shoulders are too tight for me and I have to go to a larger size for movement but it hangs in the front. And being a ‘hot’ mama, can’t keep most jackets on inside because of body temp and then you lose the fashion. I love the way jackets look, they just don’t work for me much. 🙁

Im sorry to hear that! I understand about jackets not fitting properly. It takes alot of trial & error to find the right one. Simply Be has a great moto jacket that lays open at the neck. I find that British retailers cut more generously than their US counterparts. I hope you give them a try.

Love the look of the leather jacket with that skirt. I’m not sure I’m quite on board with this trend yet.

Thank you! I can understand what you’re saying. I hemmed & hawed about buying the jacket for a year but decided to go for it!

Thank you grown and curvy woman…..I just purchased an ASOS moto jacket after seeing yours. I’ve been looking for one to wear with my fuchsia Vespa with fuchsia helmet…..and with my new black leather jacket I’ll look more like a “Good and Plenty” momma.

Hahahahah love love LOVE the second photo… \m/ ! Rock it! I bought a leather jacket from a thrift store (op shop as we call them here in Oz) years and years ago and wore it until it was practically threadbare. I loved that jacket. At the time it was $50 which was a LOT for me, but it was worth every single cent. And you know what? I don’t think I even have a photo of me wearing it (read: pre-digital cameras) but wear it, I did!

Thank you! I actually thought of you when I took that second pic! LOL

I totally believe you about your leather jacket. I know what its like to love an item so much you cant stop wearing it! 🙂

I love this – I wear my leather jacket with my maxis all winter long and I think it’s the greatest coolest look! Although it goes with much more than the maxis – I’ve always been in love with leather (I think I have 4 or 5 jackets right now) but wish they came in great variety. I really really really want a cream colored leather ANYTHING – jacket, top, skirt, ANYTHING! Is you see anything in your travels…..
