Its About You Too!

Happy Monday all!

I want to apologize for not having an outfit post today. After waking up to a  snow storm, taking my pics was the last thing I wanted to do.  My frustration  with the weather keeps a  semi-permanent scowl on my face. Basically I need Spring to start  NOW!

Last year I wrote a post called It’s About You   which discussed me wanting  my blog to be a platform for women of all ages and sizes to feel good about themselves.   Since then I’ve received many comments and emails saying just that.  I’m so honored that  through my journey (which continues) other women have started down the path to self acceptance.  While my purpose hasn’t changed  it is very  important for me to check in with you, my WONDERFUL readers to see what you would like featured.  I see my blog as a collaborative effort because without you  there would be no Grown and Curvy Woman!  Let me know in the comment section your suggestions and  I’ll do my best to make it happen!

Have a wonderful day!

Since the invitation was there and I saw it because even though I don’t always comment ( I will do better) LOL. I do however read every thing you post because I love your blog! I would love it if you could talk more about what you feel the importance of health and hygiene is for women of size.Thanks.

what is with the weather?! even grey england has been ridicuously cold and we are not good with any extreme weather! i love your blog and have loved your adventures, self acceptance is definately a tricky thing, for me i can go months feeling fabulous and then have a crappy week – maybe you could do a survival guide on crappy days? x

I’m just loving that style blogs are helping to expand my notion of beauty… to include me too! I’m petite and only about a size 12 but I regularly see women several sizes smaller than me in the media — now I balance it out with women several sizes larger… and every beautiful thing in between.

What would I like to see? Well, my blog deals with disability (which often causes weight gain) and the impact it has on women’s self-esteem. I want to see more about that out there, for sure. But mostly just keep doing what you’re doing.

Thank you so much for your insightful info. I used to have a narrow definition of beauty too but as Ive gotten older Ive learned that beauty comes in all shapes, sizes and abilities.

Oooh, I thought of something else: hair care. More specifically, the choice to keep one’s hair natural. I’m white but I understand this is a big topic within the African American community and I’d be really interested to hear about your personal choices in that area. I have very typical Jewish hair and most women with hair like mine choose to straighten it. I never will as I love my hair as it is. Someday, I’m going to do a post about Jewish hair.

To be honest I went natural by “accident”. I colored my hair blond (yeah I know, BAD IDEA! LOL) and my hair was so severely damaged that it had to be cut down to it’s natural state. I was waiting for my hair to grow back to its original length so I could straighten it again but I really never got around to it! LOL

If my opinion means anything, I think natural African-American hair is almost always much more attractive than straightened but, as a white gal, I feel my opinion probably shouldn’t count for much. But, now that I think about it, I always prefer women’s hair natural, no matter what their background. Same goes for my own hair.
