Casual Friday/Remember the Tights!

TGIF everybody!

The last time that I could remember wearing  colored tights is when   I was 10 years old.  My family had gone to the Poconos with members of our church congregation for a weekend getaway.   Dinner that Saturday night was at a fancy restaurant so my mom had to dress us up.   I remember  wearing  a red dress with white tights and shiny patent leather shoes.  My mom had pulled my hair up into a ponytail and topped it off with a red bow.  I remember feeling so pretty and a little grown up because my shoes had a slight wedge  which I thought were high heels!  Dressing up that  night was one of the highlights of that trip which has always stuck with me.

Honestly I can’t point to one reason why I  stopped wearing colored tights.  Maybe I  told myself I could only wear black or brown tights.  Maybe I felt my legs were too big for colored tights.  Either way as you can see, I no longer feel that way!

Would you wear colored tights? If so, what color?

Have a wonderful weekend!

I love colored tights! For the longest time, I also felt that I could only wear black or brown tights, and maybe grey if I was feeling bold. Since I’ve started following style blogs over the past two years, I’ve added more color to my wardrobe, including tights. Right now I’m digging We Love Colors, but I’m on the lookout for some cable-knit sweater tights, even if I have to (eventually) make them myself.

Kudos to you for stepping outside your comfort zone! Im glad you feel comfortable adding more color including colored tights. If you ever want to shoot me a pic with you in your colorful tights, please do!

Just last week, I wore these amazing teal tights, and I am currently waiting on another order that includes gold/mustard tights. I’ve been thinking about mustard tights for at least a year now!

I love the teal tights & blue shoes! The shoes are so unique and fun! Imagine all the combos you can wear with those shoes!

I meant to comment that I do not put my little girl in tights. They are way too difficult to get on and off. She has tons of leggings though in lots of colors. I like to say that hot pink IS a neutral (at least when you’re 4).

Yes hot pink is a neutral for all little girls! It practically goes with everything at that age! LOL

I love colored tights and your are perfect! I have a super bright purple pair and a teal pair of leggings that I sometimes use like tights. I kind of want a dark red or marroon color too…or maybe something totally off the wall. Black and grey are always good standbys.

You are so brave to embrace such bright & bold colors! Dark red & maroon sound like such rich colors. I would love to see a pic when you wear them!

        I’d have to buy them first 🙁 $$$ 🙁

I did a very similar color combination this week, and I loved it. Glad you rediscovered colored tights because you look fabulous 🙂

Before today, I spent years only wearing black, grey, or brown tights. But today, I wore bright blue tights! Of course, I wore them with a knee-length skirt and tall boots so only around four inches of the tights actually showed, but I think that’s not bad for a first step.

Thats an AWESOME first step! You busted out of the gate wearing blue tights! You rock!!!

Back when I wore tights, I always looked for off-the-wall colors, which were hard to find then. I don’t wear them now, because I don’t have to. 🙂 My workplace is casual, because it’s an animal shelter, so nobody dresses up; besides, it’s way too hot in the summer to wear hose of any kind. I do wear cute socks with my jeans or pants in the winter when it’s too cold for sandals, though. I love to find crazy colors and patterns!

You were a tight maverick back in the day! I would love to see your colorful patterned socks!

I only wore black tights for the longest time, but I’m starting to branch out. I found We Love Colors last month and ordered a pair of magenta tights to wear with my black dress and black wedges. They looked fantastic, so I’m going to buy a few more pairs before winter and the holidays set in. Bright blue, a softer pink (I chose Magenta because I spent October ushering at a theater that showed “The Rocky Horror Show”), and some Christmassy color like emerald or burgundy. I prefer cool colors and neutrals, so it’s unlikely I’ll go brighter than the magenta, but I’ll branch out and wear colored tights with an outfit that isn’t solid black.

Your jacket and tights are a perfect match that pull the rest of the outfit together. You look fantastic!

Wow magenta tights sound awesome! Im glad you decided to branch out and seem to be embracing colored tights!

I prefer gray, brown or black tights, but I also have blue, mustard, and olive green. I need to get a pair of dark purple because those are lovely!

Thank you! I really like that you have all those different colors! I would definitely try the mustard green color with my purple pencil skirt.
