You Aint Nothin But A Hounddog

Happy Hump Day all!

Confession time, I didn’t know there was anything such as dogstooth.  I’m assuming its the  half-brother/sister of houndstooth being that the latter gets all the attention. Either way, when I saw this dogstooth pencil skirt on Simply Be’s website with 50% off, I had to make it mine.  Pairing the skirt with red seemed like a natural choice although  I could see myself wearing a cobalt blue with it in the future.   I wanted to add some  “edge” up my look so I wore my faux leather jacket from Kohls to “toughen” it up  (Me tough?! Ha! I still sleep with a night light! ). If the jacket looks familiar to you, I wore the green one here.  Lets just say, I’m slightly enamored with the jacket  🙂

I want to thank all of  you for your wonderful and encouraging  comments on my previous post “Change is Gonna Come”.  This might sound a little corny, but I feel closer to you ladies after reading your responses.  Again thank you for being the BEST readers in the world!!!

Are you a fan of dogs/houndstooth?

Have a great evening!

I love houndstooth! It’s my favorite print. I’m pretty sure dogstooth is just what they call it in England.

I bought a houndstooth cardigan at Target a few weeks ago and I’ve paired it with plum, olive, and a small floral print. It’s so versatile!

I may need to stock up on a few more pieces while it’s trendy and easy to find 🙂

    You look fab!

Thank you! I can see why its your favorite print. Its bold without being too busy.

Exactly! It’s bold and graphic but more interesting than polka dots or stripes (not that I don’t love stripes 🙂 ).

I have a pencil skirt that I bought YEARS ago that’s a very small houndstooth and I’m considering pairing it with the cardigan. What do you think? Should I dare?

I love houndstooth/dogstooth and you’re really rocking it! Also birdseye, herringbone, gingham and seersucker; the textural weaves and prints usually call to me. The problem for me, is that my coloring is so medium that I feel overwhelmed by high-contrast colors. The black/white dogstooth looks awesome on you, however, and I love the red blouse. Thanks for the inspiration. I love seeing full-figured women who dress stylishly. You’re so chic!

Love the skirt! Did you go to the PR event yesterday. It totally slipped my mind and I’m so disappointed! Would love to hear about!

    • October 27, 2012 / 12:48 pm

Thank you! Yes I went to the PR event. It was really good to mingle & network with other bloggers who are not just into fashion. Ive never been to Xfinity Live, but I plan to go back soon. It was a great venue. Everyone was very nice and approachable. They had a raffle and I won a free car service..woo hoo!
